Spice, Herb, or Vegetable Beer Unicorn Tears - Lavender/Vanilla Blonde Ale

I've wanted to involve lavender in my brewing since the outset, so I crafted a recipe for a blonde ale that would be light enough that the lavender would shine, but tasty enough that if the lavender didn't add much I would still want to drink it. Luckily, I found a great balance, so I thought I...

    Drink for Game 7

I'm thinking of drinking a Yeti Imperial Stout to start things off. Big beer for a really big game. Go Canucks!

    WLP051 in a Blonde Ale

Just as an FYI for my peoples out there, if you have trouble with temp control and are looking for a light, summery blonde ale this season, try WLP051. I pitched some into a very simple blonde ale and because of some work obligations the temp got away from me. Ambient got up to 72 or so before I...

    WLP051 experience

Anyone have experience using this yeast? I pitched it last night in a blonde ale and it's going strong this morning. I left it at about 70 overnight because the starter looked really weak, but now that it's going strong I dropped it to 66. It could be lower but I don't want to shock them too...

    Elliott Bay Brewery

On a business trip to Seattle and just stopped by this place for a beer/dinner, not bad at all! Very good selection, had a black IPA and IPA so far (in a hoppy mood, what can I say) and both have been tasty.

    St. Arnold Divine Reserve 11

Any Houston area beer enthusiasts try some yet? I was lucky enough to snag a six pack from a Spec's in Baytown and had a bottle last night. We had a pretty good laugh because my buddy thinks that St. Arnold generally under-hops stuff. Their regular IPA tastes a lot like a pale ale to us...

    Vanilla-Lavender Cream Ale

I would love to create a fun summer seasonal partial mash recipe that builds off a solid cream ale base and is infused with vanilla and lavender aromas. My plan for the lavender is to dry hop with it and the vanilla flavoring I will get by measuring out my priming sugar in advance and putting...

    Good taste, bad gravity?

My pale ale has been in the fermented for two weeks and all visible signs of fermentation have stopped, so I thought I would take a hydrometer reading to see if I could do a dry hopping period soon. It's pretty high for the style or any style for that matter, 1.019. The swamp cooler has been...

    Nailed temp control-bottle sooner?

I know that we should leave our beer in primary for long enough that our yeast can do its thing completely, and that taking the beer off the yeast too soon can result in any number of issues. But I have often seen others on here saying that if your temp control is really solid, there are...

    Starter volume

Hey all, I did a quick search for this question and couldn't find an answer right off. Should one factor in the volume of a starter when topping off for a partial boil? Yesterday I did a 5 gallon batch where I boiled 5 gallons and ended up with about 4 gallons of wort. I topped off with...

    First Solo Brew - FUBAR

So I've brewed a few batches with a friend before and I read these boards religiously, so I figured that I would be able to bypass some of the typical beginner's mistakes that people often come on here and tell us about after their first brew. Well, today I was humbled. Thoroughly. Partial...
