For Sale Getting out of the hobby - Riverside, CA

After many months/years I'm accepting the fact that I just won't be brewing any longer. I absolutely loved the hobby when I was active, but now I have to many other activities and travel that prevent me from brewing. I've literally invested thousands in my equipment and I hate to see it going to...

California Tri-clover counterflow on stand w/pre-chiller

I moved to a plate chiller, although this setup works damn near as well, I just wanted something I could mount to my brew sculpture. This includes a More Beer reverse flow counter chiller with ti-clover fittings mounted to a stand painted with "truekbed liner" for durability. In addition I...

    Jockey Box set up/balance/foam

Here's my situation, and I've scoured the threads with no luck. I'm swimming in a virtual sea of resistance, line diameters, vols, temps, and pressures, LOL. My set up: Jockey box with: 50' 3/8 OD SS coil 5.5' 3/8 ID PVC tubing from keg to coil 6" 3/8" ID tubing from coil to faucet. Faucet...

Iodine test failed, still had great efficiency

There are many opinions on the true value of the iodine test, and I've been doing it for years...with essentially the same result every time, iodine turns reddish/yellow. Four days ago I brewed an Arrogant Bastard clone, mashes between 148-152 for 75 minutes, tried the iodine test and for the...

    Anyone have Equinox hops?

My wife and I had an amazing IPA that was made with Equinox. I'm going to guess they were added as an aroma hop and not bittering. Now she wants me to brew a beer using Equinox and I can't find any... Are they pretty much gone for the rest of the season? Thanks!

How many taps do you have or

how many is too many :D As it stands now, I have a 4 tap kegorator. Essentially what stops me from brewing is that I can only have (and store) basically 4 kegs. I just bought a huge chest freezer I'm going to convert to a keezer/kegorator. I'm debating on how many taps to go with. Originally...

    California Barley Crusher

I've owned this for about 3 years. Upgraded to a motorized 3 roller mill so I no longer need this one. I think I still have the hand crank, but seriously who wants to crank one of these when you can connect them to a drill and simplify your life :mug: Crush was alway consistant, mill never...

Was told NOT to use a counter flow chiller

For many years I used an imersion chiller. It worked well, especially when I used hose water to cool my wort, then recirculated iced water. But it always took a little longer than I wanted and I was always concerned about the risk of infection so I bought a counter flow. When I use my counter...

    Fermentation not dropping below 1.020

I realize this could go in the fermentation section but I suspect it's more related to my mashing than fermentation. I've been brewing AG for over a year now, probably 12+ batches under my belt and they all seem to stop fermenting around 1.020. OG varies from 1.040 to 1.052. Here's my typical...

    No rest for the saccharine

What would happen to your beer under these two scenarios. Both are based on all grain, 5 gallon batch, basically 2 row, mash at 150 but either 1. No increase in temp to 170 then rest for 15 min before sparge Or 2. Raise temp to 170, but it falls back to or below 150 during sparge? What...

Anyone receive the March-April issue of BYO?

Their website has the magazine on it, I called about 2 weeks ago and they said, it's on it's way... We are 3 weeks in to March now and I have yet to see it

    4 Corny kegs for $86.25

or 4 recos for $104.25 Not as smokin' a deal as Flowmaster has, but for those that missed out this one isn't too far off. It also says they will do a bulk order. I'll reach out and see what they would do an order of $50 for. http://www.cornykeg.com/index.asp?category=25114

New Belgium Ranger IPA from BYO

I think it was the Nov issue of BYO that had the New Belgium Brewing IPA recipe. At the end of the boil and dry hop you add almost 2.5 oz of Cascade hops. The net was a very grapefruity flavored beer. I hope it settles down a little as it ages.* Wonder if anyone else has experienced that?

    Is this efficiency even possible?

I recently started brewing AG again. I built a brew sculpture and have done two batches already, both with VERY high efficiency (or so the calculator tells me). One recipe included unsweetened cocoa and I suspect that might have thrown the efficiency off so I didn't think much of it. Here's...

    Is it 8oz, or 8oz?!?

About a 6 weeks ago I brewed a chocolate porter. Recipe called for 8oz of unsweetened chocolate. I went to my local grocery store and there on the shelf was a package of Hersheys unsweetened chocolate in an 8oz package! Perfect! I dumped the whole package in my wort and proceeded with the rest...

    Is my fermentation stuck?

I don't think I've ever had a stuck fermentation, most start in the 1.050 range and stop around 1.015 or so. This one is a week old, started at 1.052 and a week later is sitting at 1.026. Unfortunately we were gone for 3 days over the holiday weekend and when we returned the fermenter was in the...

Why not bill direct in to mash tun?

Seems like most people mill their grain in to a bucket then pour that in to their mash tun. Is there a reason for not milling direct in to your mash tun?

    Just finished my sculpture!

Well this project took on a life of it's own! What started out as the desire to get back in to grain brewing evolved in to what you see here! :D First time I've ever welded and am very happy with the way it turned out :rockin:. My original intent was to make it from SS, but not being familiar...
