Where to fill a 5lb CO2 tank in NH

How did All Welding Supplies work out? They are right around the corner from me. I had been going to a Fire Extinguisher place in Somersworth to get my bottle filled but they are gone now. I don't want to lose my Aluminum 10lb in an exchange at Airgas.

    Leaf Hop Absorption Measured

Thanks, I will start with that assumption. I am going to pay more attention to my losses in upcoming beers and try to get a better feel for whats happening in my kettle. I have just added a valve to my kettle after dumping through a colander for years and that has made me look more closely at...

    Leaf Hop Absorption Measured

Came across this thread and had to chime in that while this experiment seems valid my anecdotal evidence suggests a lot more absorption. Perhaps some confounding factors are: 1. Dryness of the hops. 2. Integrity of the hop (does a whole bud absorb more then a shredded bud?) 3. The impact of...

Heads up hop heads - Mosaic (HBC 369) at freshops!

I use pint, quart, and gallon bags.. but mostly pint bags and a few QT bags. A pint bag will hold less then or up to if you squeeze 4 oz of whole hops, a gallon will hold a lb, and the qt are good for amounts in-between. Sometimes I will break a bag down into what I will need for the next few...

Whats up with this Citra Shortage?

I do.. I have two beers everyone wants.. the Bangalore (a modified torpedo clone) and the Janet's brown. The rest are all for me. As it happens.. I like both of those a lot too.. Funny you should mention that though.. I have had friends offer to chip in but I don't want them to become share...

Whats up with this Citra Shortage?

Thanks and to everyone else who mentioned these guys. Only place in stock I could find for leaf. I got a 3oz Citra leaf order in with them, very reasonably priced and shipped. Wondering if its last year's Citra but even so.. got the min I need for recipes where its a signature finish. Still...

    Heady Topper

In Mitch Steele's IPA book he gives the recipe for El Jefe. Different beer.. but I think there are some things to look at there when formulating a recipe for HT. The El Jefe recipe is 88-89.5% Pearl 8% Caramalt (Crisps crystal 15) remaining percet 2.5-4 of Carafa special III to get it to...

    Heady Topper

This has been great discussion. I am planning on brewing El Jefe, their seasonal brew, using the recipe in Mitch Steele's IPA Book. I will have to aquire some more heady toppers to culture that yeast I think. I live in NH but its still a long ride. I had saved a (empty) can to give to my wife...

Can You Brew It recipe for Lagunitas IPA

I was getting about the same result when I put the recipe in Beersmith. According to their website, its about 6.2%. I will probably let it ride for my first attempt.. I have some big beers in keg as it is and having something a little smaller wouldn't be bad. Thanks for the feedback! Chris

Can You Brew It recipe for Lagunitas IPA

How did it come out? I am tweaking this for my system to maybe brew over Thanksgiving. Chris

What was your technique for getting a kegerator?

My wife eventually bought me my first keg system for my birthday. Reasons she was on board: 1. Didn't like the bottle floating around (same issue yours had) 2. Didn't like how I would be up all night bottling (more time for honeydo list) and making a mess in the kitchen. The rest of the brewing...

New to Corny Kegs - Some Questions Please

Second on the Cobra tap. Might not need that much line but you can always trim it. Very easy to use and easier to keep from foaming. I keep my keg in the fridge and the cobra tap hangs nicely on the shelf. I am running about 10psi so 4 feet has worked well for me. Chris

    getting my water tested

Does your water leave orange deposits? If not then you probably don't have an iron issue. Chris

Light left on by carboy for 4-5 hr, need I be concerned?

I tapped a glass of a nice English IPA I made that has come along quite nicely... Life is good. I am still curious. I will know in a few weeks I guess!

Light left on by carboy for 4-5 hr, need I be concerned?

I did various experiments and that is not needful. I get exactly the temp I want with the bottle in the water and a fan blowing to increase the evap of the water and thus its coolness. When fermentation slows I can turn the fan off and keep the temp pretty steady as heat generated by the yeast...

Light left on by carboy for 4-5 hr, need I be concerned?

Hi, Just wondering if anyone has direct experience with this. I keep a better bottle in a water bath with a fan going in my basement in the summer. It works great but I can't cover it or I will lose the evaporation effect. Windows are covered so the basement stays dark. I am not worried about...

    Vissani 52 Wine Bottle Kegerator

depends on the temp of the beer... so if it is still falling then i would set it at what it needs to be at when you reach the target temp using one of the many charts out there for that purpose. If you set it for your current temp and the temp drops you run the risk of over-carbing unless the...

Best fridge for dual tap kegerator conversion

Found this thread when checking some fridge models for compatibility when I saw.. You are living the dream, man! I thought I was doing good when the wife said I could put a kegerator in the basement! No need for the inconvenience of every leaving your bed when the urge for a beer strikes...
