Pico has little evaporation which is typically something like 0.5gal/hr. I suspect this is accounting for the differences.

Yeah it seems like 60-65% is about right for Z. Make sure to set it to "high efficiency mash" (you'll see a dropdown in the recipe crafter).

I do exactly what swimIan suggested (because my fermentor height is similar -- use a blow off tube from my corny. The keg is a standard ball lock keg and the airlock is a standard 3 piece clear airlock e.g. like this...

The recipe crafter will tell you the limits, which I think are 4.25gal of water or ~9lbs of grain. Within these limits you can brew whatever you want. I typically brew a ~3-3.25 gallon batch.

Me too. Just did my 3rd brew and I've just been doing a clean cycle after ever brew. Given how colored the water is when it comes out, I think it's a good idea to keep it running smoothly and doesn't take much more effort than a rinse IMO.

I agree the hat is sort of lame but out of curiosity, what do you guys want to do with the second cozy? I had a Zymatic for years and never needed a second one or had any issues with it.

FYI it can be shipped dry (as flakes, read up in the thread) and will probably do fine via mail. I did a 1 week ferment (seemed close to done at 3 days @ 96 deg but I wanted to be safe), cold crash and force carb. I'm drinking it now just over a week later.

On May 15th when I last asked then, they said: "We're waiting on a couple items to arrive and then will be getting perks shipped out to those that have already received their Zs."

My Oslo fermentation is just finishing up. I have a food dehydrator, so I'll give it a try and test the viability (I assume you can drop flakes into a DME starter solution as a test?). Any tips on thickness?

How do you dry the yeast? Any links to a how to? I've been curious on a good way to store these hard to find strains...

I just pitched a pack into a 5g pilsner last night @ 96 degrees and my air lock is going crazy this morning with activity.

For what it's worth I came really close to cancelling for the same reasons and finally got mine last week. I'm impressed. Much nicer than the zymatic. Just brewed an NEIPA this past weekend and it was smooth sailing. Hang in there.
