    5 Day Sweet Country Cider

AJ - good info. I appreciate it. Not sure what I'm gonna do at this point. LHBS recommends cold crashing and sorbate. I may give it a shot and just do my darndest to drink it up fast. :cross:

    5 Day Sweet Country Cider

Clifton, that sounds awful! Thank you for responding. Hmmmm, I wonder if I just throw it literally on ice as soon as I keg it then transfer to the keggerator if that'll stop the yeast or not. If it does, and it doesn't condition, I can just force carb it like you said. IDK, kinda risky...

    5 Day Sweet Country Cider

Okay, I read all 21 pages on this thread. Saw several questions on kegging this recipe but no answers. Has anyone kegged this without pasturizing? I'm thinking of brewing it following the recipe, racking and kegging it at desired gravity, allowing it to 'bottle condition' in keg for a few...

    Hello from Chicago

Here's what I forgot on my first batch. Take a gravity reading with your hydrometer once you get your wort up to the full volume (~5.5 gallons for my set up) and it is cooled down to about 70 degrees. Without it you won't know what your final alcohol content is, and of course on this first one...

    Hello from Atlanta!

I'm just starting to realize how lucky we are to have even 1 much less 2 really good home brew stores in our area after talking with friends in other places. Went to Brew Depot yesterday and spent about a half hour talking with the owner about all kinds of stuff. He is such a nice guy and has...

    Hello from Atlanta!

Thanks Maxkling. Our main store is the Brew Depot in Alpharetta/Roswell. It's the closest to us, and they seem to have good prices, are helpful, and have great selection. We tried out Wine Craft in Sandy Springs, but they were pricey and a bit more limited. What stores around here are your...

    New Brewer In South Florida

Yes, that sounds like a bottling wand. They work really well. In just a few weeks you'll get to fire it up!

    Hello from Austin, TX!

Ah, yeah, it just happens that our nut brown last winter got too hot fermenting in the laundry room and ended up a bit like a banana nut brown. But people really liked it anyway...

    New Brewer In South Florida

Hello! Good call on going for the 5 gallon set up. I did the same. I might be wrong but it doesn't look like this has a bottling wand. They are cheap, and I would definitely pick one up if it didn't come with. Makes bottling more fun IMHO. You might also want a tube to use for taking your...

    Hello from Austin, TX!

Welcome from another noob! I'm in Atlanta but have ordered from AHS before (honey wheat kit that was so-so). How was that Newcastle clone?

    Hello from WI

Hey and welcome from a former Wisconsonite (Appleton). I'm no expert, but I generally leave it in primary at least a week then secondary for at least another week. Don't bottle (or keg) until the gravity is stable so you know fermentation has stopped. It won't hurt to leave it longer. Once...

    Newbie from NM

Hello and welcome from another noob! Hope your batch isn't spoiled. I had a scare with some yeast that was letting off sulfur dog farts in primary, but the brew was fine thankfully.
