2nd brew in the carboy, time to bottle first brew?

2 weeks is the general rule for carbonation, after that the longer you can wait the better it will be. Myself, I often sample a few before the 2 week stage, purely in the name of "science"

    Probably a dumb question

As some said it has lost a lot of hop character, but tastes good nonetheless. It was in a glass carboy.

    Probably a dumb question

Cracked the first one of these last night... Fantastic. All you guys who said it'd be good were right. Even after 7 months in the primary. I even convinced SWMBO to try it (she was convinced it was rotten) and she conceded that it was good. Cheers!

    Probably a dumb question

Actually, I bottled it this past Tuesday. Over 7 months in the primary, but it smelled and tasted OK. Thanks again for the feedback, I will let you know how it tastes in a couple of weeks.

    Probably a dumb question

Thanks for the responses! Definitely going to bottle it and give it a shot. And yes mcaple1... I do have a profound sense of shame for ignoring my beer. Ah well, a couple of cold ones should take care of that!

    Probably a dumb question

I brewed an IPA back in November... and got busy. That, coupled with the fact that I'm probably one of the world's worst procrastinators, is why it is still sitting in my basement, almost 5 months later, still sitting on the primary. As the title says, probably a dumb question, but is...

    US-05 taking forever to finish?

I made a blonde ale almost a month ago and after much reading decided to leave it in the primary until it was ready to bottle. Gravity wise it appears to be done, but it is still very very cloudy and when I take a look at it I can see some small chunks moving around (like fermentation is...

    Cloudy, yeasty blonde

I've read some of the posts on gelatin. Would it be a good time for me to mix some of that up and add it to the secondary?

    Cloudy, yeasty blonde

A few weeks ago I brewed a blonde ale from extract. It ended up being a little darker than expected (I used pale extract instead of light) so I called it "The curtains don't match the drapes Blonde Ale" Anyway I used Safale US-05, it took a few days to get going but then went strong for 7...

This is how big your Mash Tun needs to be

    Great post. Very helpful.

    Mash tun size

    Fantastic. Thanks.

    Mash tun size

Thanks for the responses. Looks like it's time to start looking for a deal on a cooler. 60qt would be optimal size for 5-10gal? Or would 48 do better? I don't anticipate doing 10gal batches for quite some time.

    Mash tun size

I am gathering materials to make my first AG batch, and have a question about mash tun size. I was given a 120qt rectangular cooler, and am wondering if I would be able to use it for 5gal batches - or is it way too big? I have read some information about people using coolers this size for up...
