    WTB: Thermostat Controller in Atlanta

No problem :) I've no personal experience with that controller. A friend of mine has that controller and says it works ok, for him. I recently picked up the digital Johnson controller, but still need a freezer to lager in.

    Refractometer Problems

Are you adjusting for the alcohol? When I first started using a refractometer, I watched this vid and used the spreadsheet. I now use the calculator in my brewing software. http://morebeer.com/learn_vids/vids_refract I've been using my hydrometer more and more when getting FG's and use the...

    New- Milwaukee,WI

Hi and welcome! I know longer live in MKE, but this past winter Northern Brewer opened a store out on HWY 100. Check the exact location on their websites, northernbrewer.com. I've used them before and they're pretty good. If I still lived in the city i'd probably be there all the time.

    Coolers

I purchased my 70 Qt Coleman Xtreme on Walmart's website for $33 and some change + .97 shipping. I see price is now 35.54 with .97 shipping. I did have to pay tax. Pretty decent deal, methinks.

Where should I buy my 1st kit?

+1 for these guys, they are only a couple hundred miles away and shipping is very fast. Recently tried BrewMasterWarehouse.com and was very happy with them. And, one last one, MoreBeer.com, for the free shipping.

How much water will boil away?

I would say do a test with your current system just using water. I did this just yesterday with my new 15 gallon megapot and SQ14 burner. I lost 25% of my water over a 60 minute boil.

    Propane Burner?

I use this burner with a 15 gallon megapot, stable as can be and works awesome! I got mine from Amazon too. 49 + free shipping = good deal for me. Gets 8 gallons to boil from 52*F in about 30 minutes.

Goofy question about brew pot accessories

I've done extract with steeping grains and wished I had a thermometer on the kettle to keep steep temp steady. I have found that one that clips on the side of my brew pot with the probe extending into the pot worked great for me. When done steeping, could remove it and add extract and stir like...

    Mash tun size

I purchased a 70qt Coleman Xtreme from Walmart.com for 35-36 bucks, shipped, about 4 weeks ago. Check there. Lots of people on here have made them from that cooler, that is why I chose that particular model.

    Brewmasters Warehouse

I am not one to come out and publicly bash a company when things don't go quite right, but I am quick to come give them praise for doing right by a customer after a problem. I recently placed my first order with BMW. The shipping was quick, the recipe builder is cool as can be, and the flat...

Suggested cooler for aquarium heater fermentation

Thank you for your input! I have a couple rubbermaid tubs that would work, but being cheap, and needing a HLT, I figured I would try the cooler. I was thinking about using an external temp control, ranco, johnson, etc. I think I will take a small tape measurer to Walmart and measure...

Suggested cooler for aquarium heater fermentation

Sorry, should have made it more clear. My desire is to place my 6.5 gallon carboy filled with 5.25-5.5 gallons of wort into a cooler, hopefully one similar to an Igloo branded Ice Cube cooler. Then I would like to add water to that cooler and utilize an aquarium heater to keep the water at...

Suggested cooler for aquarium heater fermentation

Hi! Was hoping that maybe, just maybe, some would know, first-hand, if a 6.5 gallon glass carboy would work in one of those Igloo Ice Cube 62qt coolers. I also need an HLT and was thinking that would do the trick as well. Maybe someday, use it for keeping the carboy cool. Lid doesn't need to...

How long - stainless braid - xtreme 70

First post here, have been a lurker for a long time, been extract brewing for a few years. Now working on building a mash tun out of a Coleman xtreme 70qt cooler. Planning to use cooler kit from Bargain Fittings. I am not a DIY kinda guy and live in a small town with not a lot of resources...
