    Speakers and stereo equipment

I'm not a headphone guy, but I would like to hear what planar magnetic headphones sound like. I have planar magnetic speakers, but the concept of planar headphones seems very different. They're dipoles, right?

    Keezer cooling issue

My keezer has been making a little noise and has ice buildup at the bottom. It's about 5-10 years old. Can ice buildup at the bottom also mean low refrigerant? It's still holding temps just fine, but it does seem to be running more than usual, unless that's just because I'm noticing the noise...

Pennsylvania 5.6 pounds of various hops in the Philly area

5.6 pounds of miscellaneous hops pellets. $40. All are from Yakima Valley Hops and have been vacuum sealed and frozen since new and will remain frozen until someone buys them. The price is for all of them; I don’t want to split them up. Included are the following: Lemon Drop 8 oz Amarillo...

    No oxygen dry hopping

Damn. Did you make sure that there were no two pellets stuck together? That can cause problems. They all have to be completely un-stuck from each other.

    No oxygen dry hopping

I use a 2" valve and they dump right in. Did you try tapping on the valve with a rubber mallet or something like that?

    Intense hop burn in neipa

This is almost exactly what my process has evolved to over the years and I no longer have any hop burn at all. The first pint from my last batch didn't even have a trace amount of burn which was pretty amazing to me. I go a little cooler on the soft crash (serving temp) and a little warmer for...

    Intense hop burn in neipa

Why hasn't anyone mentioned soft crashing yet? I have not had the burn since I started doing it.

    My niece calls them waterlemons.

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Cool, I just brewed one with Nelson, Citra, and a touch of Columbus.

    Keg Lube and Fermenters

It's fine to use as you proposed. I use it on the rotating racking arm on my fermenter for every batch and never had an issue. I (and basically everyone else) also use it on kegs to seal the o-rings and there is no issue at all.

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

My hydro samples are 4oz and they definitely have some foam on them because the beer shoots out of my conical pretty hard due to the head pressure. A larger vessel would have even more head pressure on it. That additional pressure combined with the fact that it's almost a fill pint of Edward...

How to attach a wooden side to a stainless steel work bench?

I would probably just make a bracket or two out of SS and not use wood at all.

Hop powder, bottom of the bag

Shake every bit of that goodness in there. Why would you not? It's what the pellets are made out of.

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Depending on what I'm doing, I sometimes assemble sections of lines/hoses in a big pot under starsan so they're completely full and then blast them out with CO2 or beer if I'm transferring until beer comes out. You could do that for your fermenter>keg line. Fill the line, connect it to your...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Yep, I'm a firm believer in this method now, but you don't have to drop it that low. I have been going down to 55. That way, you don't spend as much time bringing it back up to your DH temp. Search this thread for "soft crash" and you'll find plenty of info.

    DIY Fermentation chamber question

Well, ceramic heaters have fans in them, so when they're on, there is air movement. That being said, I put a fan in my chamber that blows over the evaporator. I leave it running during the entire ferment to keep all the air inside the chamber well mixed and the same temp everywhere. It's not...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

@eugles, where do you get your hops, how do you store them, and how old are they when you use them? I recently tracked down a weird problem I had where certain batches would suck for no apparent reason. All of these sucky batches used hops that were more than about a year old. I thought they...
