    Just brewed after a year

I think it was 04. When I started using this yeast I noticed it didn'd get after it as other yeasts I've used in the past, but this one was the worst. And you are right, the krausen doesn't last very long. Should I use another yeast because I noticed my last couple of batches using this yeast...

Houston we have a problem. INFECTION?!

I used to have this problem on every batch I made after it first appeared. After I started brewing and racking in the garage the problem went away. I believe it is some kind of mold that is in the air where you are racking. I didn't think it made a difference in taste but after it went away the...

    lager knowledge needed

I have been doing all grain ales for almost a year now and would like to try a lager. I would appreciate it if some of you homebrew heads could drop some knowledge on me about some of my concerns. 1: How big of a starter should I make for 10 gallons? 2: What temp should the starter be at and...

    infection help!!

Don't worry about it. Almost all of my beer has a white film over it but it still tastes fine. Being in South Texas where the humidity is always high I believe mine is some sort of mold.

    Hops situation

Because of the hop shortage last year I bought about 4 pounds of the three variaties of hops I use most. I haven't paid any attention to the hop situation this year until my took inventory of my stock and went to purchase more at Hopsdirect.com. What the hell happened? They only have 4 different...

    caustic soda

I was talking with my uncle this weekend who worked with Coca Cola for years. He said they used caustic soda (lye) to clean the kegs. Has anyone had any experience with this?

    Tried OxiClean Tonight

The residue is from fermenting. A while back I had a bunch of bad batches in a row and was trying everything including oxyclean. I found out that the residue was what was causing the problem and nothing takes it off accept scrubbing. If you don't scrub and get an infection the only fix is scrubbing.

How long will home brew last?

It wouldn't last six weeks at my house.

How about a CO2 Capture system?

I think this is much more plausible.

    A couple questions

I did find this one but will it work for all three burners or is it too much for the MLT? http://www.bayouclassicdepot.com/bg14_cast_iron_burner.htm

    Something to "w00t" about

Ah the younger generation. It's always someone elses fault. Looks like a real stainless steal!

    A couple questions

I am going to go AG as soon as I can get all of the equipment. I will be building a single tier system and the sites with burners are real vague as to the exact specs. ie. High pressure and how many BTU's. I am looking at this one...
