    can i add Maltodextrin ?

From what I understand, Maltodextrin will add a very small amount of sweetness, but primarily will add mouth feel. I think it's recommended 4 oz per 5 gallon batch if I remember right ... more if you want it thicker ... at bottling time. I'm no expert though .. I am sure there are more qualified...

    First batch story!

I just tried one of my Weizenbiers after a week in the bottle. It's clarified pretty well. It has about half the carbonation that I like so that means it is on the right track. Nice head when I poured it into my glass and left the sediment in the bottle. It would probably be much nicer cold...

    First batch story!

Mmmm .. Cherry Wheat. Sounds good. That's what I wanted to do for my first batch (Weizebier) but the HBS suggested I try it without modifying the recipe since it was my first time. When to go from Primary to Secondary (If at all)

Wow ... I read the entire thread, every post. I feel ... bug-eyed. What I got from all these posts: 1) Forget the bubble thing. Use a sanitized turkey baster or wine thief to extract some beer. Use a hydrometer and take readings 2 or three days in a row and look for any change. If it's...
