    Wal-Mart Turkey Fryer Kit

Heads up- right now Wal-Mart has their own turkey fryer kits on sale. At only $45 I had to try it out. My first impressions: Stand/burner is a knock-off of the Bayou Classic, and surprisingly sturdy. The burner itself is a low quality cast iron piece. I haven't found a BTU rating but...

Narrow Pot over 1 burner or wide pot over 2 burners

It really depends on how wide your wide pot is- when I used the keggle on the stove it was fine but I definitely lost some heat around the sides. As long as most of the flame is getting under the pot, more heat input should result in quicker boils.

Doing large batches in small pots?

Mixing the two before bottling would effectively nullify any variances between bottles, should have no problems.

    Troegs Nugget Nectar Clone

Nugget Nectar is my absolute favorite beer. However, I will be waiting to attempt a clone until I have a few more brews under my belt.

    Guinness, yechhhhhh!!!!

Drink a Rolling Rock...now THAT is cloying. Anyway, I'm an Extra Stout drinker. I agree that regular draught is too bland, and enjoy the bitter coffee notes of the Extra Stout. One thing I have always wondered about was the ABV of extra stout, as many sources seem to differ on this...

Discuss: what kind of wine do you like ?

One of my favorite wines of all time is Vega Tolusa (o?) Spanish Cabernet, its 100% cab (no merlot blended in it) yet is off-dry, and has a huge offering of dark fruits. For $8/bottle it has no contenders in my book.

    Beer in Amsterdam

If Amstel's other offerings are anything like the State-side Amstel Light, I would pass. AL was the first beer that I didn't like, and is still very lonely on that list. I'd take a PBR over one any day of the week.

    I want you to shutter!

I'm not sure why you want a high alcohol beer for pong. When I play 1 on 1/6 cup, I like to play with 1 1/2 beers per side, with more in the back cups to prevent spillage. This way we can play more games over a longer period without getting totally hammered. The games are short with 6 cup, and...

    I feel validated

This probably validates your skill more so than "something fancy" like an Imperial stout. Stouts have tons of roasted flavors that can cover up off flavors, just like a hoppy IPA could.

    Skittles in secondary

On a related note, if you put skittles in a handle of bathtub vodka, it still tastes like ****ing paint thinner. Ask me how I know.

    Skittles in secondary

From the article: "Coors Light is a relatively decent light beer" "usually we view foam as a bad thing in beer"

    Beer 30 Light?? HAHA

It is interesting to see beer companies embrace the fact that their product's sole purpose is inebriation. You see a Natty commercial, they have coolers/mini fridges stocked with a few 30's. Similarly, Captain commercials show drunken ~25 year olds running around town chasing women. Compare that...

    Yuengling Lager Clone

Here's what I came up with, based on suggestions here, the recipe posted and Yeungling's website: http://hopville.com/recipe/179054/american-amber-ale-recipes/pennsylvania-american-amber

How does freezing yield a 41%abv beer???

Actually this is a really gray area. Members have contacted state and local governments as well as federal agencies to find out how legal this would be. If I remember, ATF's standpoint was "A lawyer might be able to convince someone you are distilling alcohol, but to us it looks like you are...

    Lower Hydrometer Reading

Assuming you use the correct amount of top-off water, it is extremely hard to miss the OG on an extract batch by more than a point or two. Sounds like you have your answer!

    Partial Lagering - Worth it?

In general this would not ever be recommended because you are bridging between the fermentation temps for lagers and ales. No matter what yeast you are using that would not be advisable (the exception would be steam beer). Assuming you are using an ale yeast, you would only want to drop the...
