JAOM, did I leave it too long?

@Mitche I believe this was the recipe I used, but it's been a hell of a long time ago... https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f30/jaom-308849/

JAOM, did I leave it too long?

I may need tricks but if they are beyond your skill then I am hopeless... I'm just gonna bottle uncarbed then.

    stopping back by...

I'm really not sure. I'm going to go to my lbs on Friday and see what strikes my fancy. I do think I'm going to try a partial mash. I've only done extract brews before. I noticed on their website that they are offering 1 gallon kits so I may pick up a couple of those.

JAOM, did I leave it too long?

So as long as its clear, I can just bottle it, right? Do you carbonate mead?

    stopping back by...

Ok, I'm not new to this site but have been away from brewing for a few years. I'm sure i'll have newbie questions as the little knowledge I did have has turned into mush... So thanks in advance! Brandon

Is there such a thing as too much head space?

Ok cool guys. Then i'll just bottle the majority after primary and rack my experimental portions to the 1 gallon carboys.

JAOM, did I leave it too long?

Ok, long story short, I put a gallon carboy of JAOM mead in a closet and just let it and forgot about it for quite a while. I am going to say it is about 18 months in the carboy. I can't check it right now, I'll do it tomorrow, but should I be ok? I haven't filled the airlock since I put it in...

Is there such a thing as too much head space?

Howdy ya'll! I'm back after several years of not brewing! I have two or three 1 gallon carboys that I would like to separate from a 5 gallon brew. Lets say I use 2 of them as secondaries. Can I just use my 5 gallon carboy to rack the other 3 gallons, or should I just bottle it after primary? I...

    bottle cleaning advice...

Ok, i think i'm going to bottle friday. tonight i'm going to set my bottles soaking in either bleach or oxiclean solution. I'm going to fill my bottling bucket with a 5 gallon iodophor mix and fill bottles in process that i will bottle bear in. this way my equipment gets sanitized as i sanitize...

    bottle cleaning advice...

ok, here's another question. my bottles are "recycled." the ones i drank i know i've rinsed out fairly well. the ones my buddy contributed i'm not so sure about. i was just planning on cleaning them all well just in case. I think i'm going to see if i can find some oxiclean when i go to work and...

    bottle cleaning advice...

Ok, i'm going to bottle my first batch of beer this week and need to clean my bottles. I was going to soak all the bottles in a large plastic storage container, but cannot find any oxyclean. I'm hoping i don't have to go to the store, and am thinking of using a bleach solution. is this a viable...

    Just moved to secondary...quick question..

I'm not sure if it will cut out all the harmful spectrums of light, but you can get window tint at your local auto parts store... just apply it to the window area in the fridge! Or you might be able to get a window tinting place to do it for you.. they may have better light blocking tint (maybe...

    can i use a 5 gallon carboy for a 3 gallon batch?

Ok, this may be a dumb question, but I've never tried to make mead before, but am interested in doing a small 3 gallon batch. I will need to get a new carboy since it ferments for so long (don't want to be out of beer while i'm waiting). Looking at prices a 5 gallon carboy is not much more...

    Temps and cold crashing question

Nah, i didn't really think i would fix my temperature problems, just hoping to make the best beer i can at this point. I'm just going to set it and forget it for a while in the fridge. thanks, brandon

    Temps and cold crashing question

so should i just leave it around 36 degrees until i'm ready to bottle and then bottle without gradually raising temps in the fridge? This is my first attempt, so as long as it's drinkable i'm happy.... the more drinkable the better though! I'm going to take a reading with my hydrometer the next...
