    Nottingham Yeast

The light ale I kegged last week is not looking good. I ran a couple pints out and it's super cloudy, fruity, and flat--it hardly carbed up at all. The next batch, the one I pitched the Notty into just before I read the thread, measured 1.011 today, but it was less cloudy and fruity than the...

    Nottingham Yeast

Should've checked this before ... I just pitched a packet of the infamous 1081140118V into an Ordinary Bitter this afternoon. Funny thing is, it was the second packet--the first smelled and looked funky after rehydrating (no froth, smelled musty, not like happy yeast), so I dumped it and...

Frigidaire Model FRC445GB Mini-Fridge Kegerator Conversion

I'm running mine through the door as well

Frigidaire Model FRC445GB Mini-Fridge Kegerator Conversion

I've had the low-temp problem, and I just picked up an external thermostat. I haven't used it yet (I don't have a keg ready to go, so the fridge is currently sitting idle) but I don't expect it to be a problem. I do English-style beers, and intend to keep them nearer 50, so the thermostat...

    Summit hop experiences?

I got mine from MoreBeer just last week. 4 ounces for $10.95.

    Fermentation Question

Whether you're using a secondary or not, there's really no need to rush. It won't hurt to leave it in the primary a few more days, and if you go straight to the bottle (as I do), there's no point in risking it--I've had gravities drop slowly toward the bottom end, especially in the winter, and...

    Will Nottingham handle 1.074 OG

I used Nottingham on a partigyle--the first runnings ended up at 1.075 and it went fine.

    Summit hop experiences?

Thanks for the advice everyone--It'll be useful on the next round. From my perspective, since I'm only going for a PA rather than and IPA, Dude's comment on the lower perceived bitterness fits the mark, since I was afraid I way overhopped this batch. We'll see, but I'll probably stick with the...

    Summit hop experiences?

For reasons both financial and practical, I'm experimenting with Summit hops, and trying to take advantage of the super high alpha to stretch my budget. I just made my first experimental batch yesterday, a partial-mash Pale Ale, and it seems like I added hardly any--1/2 oz. for 60, 1/4 for 10...

Frigidaire Model FRC445GB Mini-Fridge Kegerator Conversion

I'm not exactly eletrically inclined--I can do this without frying myself?

Keg system with no fridge - is there hope?

Sorry ... didn't catch the Halifax bit ... I don't know if that fridge is available up there. Still, do you have a basement? I like the snow and cold water idea ...

Keg system with no fridge - is there hope?

I've considered it--I've got a basement in Rochester NY that's in the 50s all winter, and I do English ales, so it's not that far out. Still, it's in the 60s down there in the summer, so I just bit the bullet and bought a mini fridge. Check out the frigidaire mini-fridge conversion threads...

Go Ahead....make fun of my dream!

Nano is the perfect size--that way all of us can start one without stepping on each other's toes (yes, I've entertained the same notion myself ...). Wouldn't it be great to have nano- and micro-breweries in every neighborhood? Think of the variety and accessibility. Wait a sec ... I'm having...

Took first hydro reading of first batch...

1.012-1.014 isn't an out of whack final gravity for a heavier beer, so you're probably not too far off. Congrats on the first batch. Here's to many, many more.

    Kegerator build

Everything seems alright and intact--it was Scotch glue that I had sitting around, so it might be a little different than the standard superglue. Overall it's not a pretty as it could be, as you can see where it's all gummed up behind, but it's solid.

Frigidaire Model FRC445GB Mini-Fridge Kegerator Conversion

I've got it on one, right on the edge of the off switch ... I did have it up higher, and it got below freezing when it was empty. I actually went out and bought a fridge thermometer to confirm, since I didn't trust my mash therm or my wife's cheese therm (suited as they are for higher temps)...

    Kegerator build

Good call on the drip tray. I just superglued one on this morning--not quite so neat a job as with the hot glue gun, but it'll hold.

Frigidaire Model FRC445GB Mini-Fridge Kegerator Conversion

I've set up the same fridge, and my temps seem awfully low, in comparison--different reads on different thermometers in different places in the fridge, but at the lowest setting I'm getting reads between 34 and 38 and plenty of ice forming on the top as condensation freezes--and that's with a...

Frigidaire Model FRC445GB Mini-Fridge Kegerator Conversion

I just picked one of these up myself, and I'm fishing for others' experience ... I got this for homebrew dispensing, but anybody put any smaller commercial kegs in this? if so what size? I can get fairly inexpensive 1/6 and 1/4 kegs of good local beer, and have a Sankey coupler that came with...
