Boiled 3.5 gallons in one hour - is it my elevation?

Subject says it all. I live in Lake Tahoe, I'm at about 6,300 ft elevation. I sparged to 6.5 gallons and boiled for an hour. I only got 3 gallons of wort! Am I crazy? Has anyone else seen that much wort boil off in just 60 minutes?

Getting a sense of results before brewing

I've made root beer a couple of times. I find it a fun beverage to experiment with due to the different types of root and bark ingredients. Is fermentation done when the yeast falls to the bottom?

Over the last day or two I've noticed much less bubbling, it's completely stopped now. And, the yeast has almost completely fallen to the bottom. Help a newbie understand the timeline...

I've previously made two hazy IPAs via extract. This time I'm attempting a pale ale w/ all grain BIAB method. My goal is to up the quality of my brew, using liquid yeast. I want to also control for the temperature of fermentation but it's proving far more difficult to find a mini fridge that...

Backyard brewing: how/where to drain all this water?

Just what the title says. I brew in my backyard and don't have much in the way of drainage anywhere. Wondering if anyone has any tips/tricks for how to effectively get rid of water - for example, using an immersion chiller uses a lot of water, not to mention the cleaning of everything as well...

    Hello from Tahoe

I was browsing garage sales and saw a northern brewer kit for sale. Nearly brand new, unopened. Got it for $50. came home, brewed the Amber. Had a ton of fun. Acquired a bunch of gear from Craigslist, and did a hazy IPA brew on Saturday. I am really enjoying the process and figured it was time...
