    New infusion technique?

Good name! Please feel free to pass the idea on. I got my pay when i felt the weird squiggle in my head and thought 'beauty, bet that'll work!' We also have more of a tradition of uncarbonated beers here in UK so the loss of carbonation is well inside my comfort zone. I also have a two bottle...

    New infusion technique?

I know you guys have cafiteires across there! Its for your ground coffee. It does de carbonate the beer to an extent but the pay off has been worth it. Its puts the edge back onto a dulled IPA for no cost apart from a rake through the wifes kitchen. :)

Slightly wild Belgian with American/NZ influence

Hi All, I have had a Belgian style beer with American hops in it floating around in my head for a couple of years. I then discovered Brett C & New Zealand hops. I also built my own hop infusion device in the interim. Heres the results to date. Cheers. P...

    Fast way to hop infusion

HopThang working. This is with hindsight a bit of a no brainer for guys with pumped breweries, well worth fitting in to your systems. Gravity brewers would work through a bed of hops but wouldn't have the oommphh to push through this...

    Brett noob w/ questions

My understanding and experience with Brett C is that you can pretty much forget about looking for a medium bodied beer. The Brett C i am using takes beer down to 1.000 to 1.003. Admittedly this is being used during secondary fermentation. Nonetheless i see no reason why it will not continue to...

    A humbling experience.

Chill pal, opinions are like ar**holes everybodys got one and their one shouldn't be overly important to you! Nobody get their first AG dead right. If they do they should retire undefeated and do something else for a hobby. The best thing i did on my first 1/2 dozen AG's was a 'to do' list for...

Pitching onto yeast cake with "spent" blueberries

No worries, probably blueberry source not the easiest for your first time! Still, if you've got it done then no more worries about yeast washing! I use an Erlenmeyer flask(because its cool) and a 1/2 ltr glass jam jar to wash between the two. As with everything in brewing there is doing enough...

Pitching onto yeast cake with "spent" blueberries

Have you given any thought to washing the yeast cake so you at least get rid of the trub and dead fruit? Doodle to do and takes little time. I agree with reusing yeasts but not straight pitching onto a prior cake.

    Expired Yeast?

When i grow a yeast sample in my erlenmeyer flask i rip a clean sandwich bag off of a roll of hundreds put it over the top of the flask leaving the maximum amount of bag above the lip of the flask and hold it in place with a multi wrapped tight elastic band. Scientific side of me is confirming...

    Scottish Ale Yeast for IPA?

Of course there are plenty of low AA hops grown in America and i personally love using cascade, simcoe amarillo and other large AA hops etc in IPA's. They are great and really spoil the taste buds to any other beer that day(in a good way). As i said earlier it doesn't have to be style driven...
