    Sour Belgian Red critique

I'm thinking of doing a pseudo Flanders Red, with a kettle sour instead of doing long term aging. I don't really care if it's true to style, but just looking for something a little different than a regular Saison. Looking for some feedback since I've never done anything quite like this before...

Adding sugar / wort to sour secondary?

Edit: My apologies, I just realized I posted this to the recipes section. Please move or delete if needed. Hi everyone, Been a long time since I logged in, life got in the way and I gave up brewing for a few years. I'm back at it now and after a couple basic IPA's to get back in the swing...

    Brew day disaster

Today was the first time I've brewed since September of last year, if I remember correctly. Tried to make a wheat beer, which I've done numerous times. I use unmalted wheat, and cook it before mashing with the 2-row. Efficiency sucks, but I like the taste. I somehow managed to burn the...

    Apple Beer recipe?

I did a search to see if anyone has tried this, but all it brought back was page after page of the Apfelwein thread.... I'm thinking of making an apple beer - I'm thinking for a 6 gallon batch I'll get about 4 gallons of wort at 1.070 or so, and then add 2 gallons of apple juice in the...

Help me make a big Belgian

Now that temps in my house are warming up I'm looking to make a big Belgian style beer. If I ferment in the right place I can maintain about 75 degrees as opposed to 65-70 in the basement. The extra couple of degrees should help produce those esters needed in a Belgian style. Here's what I'm...

    Dutch Oven

We took my daughter camping last weekend and had a blast, so I'm all excited to go some more this summer. This was the first time we'd gone since she was born. So, the other day I went to Harbor Freight and bought a cast iron Dutch Oven. I'm pretty excited to use it - anyone else ever use one?

    Home Improvement Tip

If you take the filter out of your shop vac in order to use it to clean up standing water, always remember to put it back in before you use it to clean up drywall dust. Maybe SWMBO won't the coating of white stuff all over the house.

    The Shining

....is on right now. Damn, that's a good movie. But I have to say, the wife in that movie is so freakin' annoying. If I was married to her I'd probably go crazy and try to off her too.

    Hop Tea for sweet beer?

I brewed a batch of Pale Ale a few weeks ago, and I think I had some old, bad hops. They smelled fine, but my beer is extremely sweet. It's like the hops had no alpha acids. I'm wondering if I can brew up a super-contrated hop tea by boiling some hops on the stove and then add it to my beer...
