It was free, as in beer. He's my neighbor and an awesome guy. But I can't get past the Key Stone 🤣

    Help - Field to Glass

It came straight out of the combine. I was shocked also. I was expecting some hull and chaff but there is hardly any at all. Plus 1 for John Deere, I guess.

    Help - Field to Glass

Awesome thank you much ☺. This stuff came right off the combine. I think I'll malt about 1/2 of it and perhaps do a 50 raw/50 malted all wheat, with 3 additions or about 20 IBU of some american hops like centennial maybe. Mash in about 150 ~ 152 or so. IDK...still thinking 🤔. I like...

I could malt the wheat without much problems. What you think? malting would be better, than just using as is?

    Help - Field to Glass

Neighbor combining winter wheat today. So why not give an American wheat beer a try? I got 2 buckets hoping for a 10 gallon batch. A couple of questions Can I go right to the mill with this? It's red wheat and the seeds are dry, hard and swéet tasting. I believe I have enough wheat for a 10...

    Brewers Best Apple Cider Kit

About 2' or so. I just fit it inside the racking hose and put it in the carboy or keg. That way all the cider runs through it, plus copper pipe is sitting in the cider for the length of time it takes to rack. I read somewhere that copper drives off that nasty smell and it does work. Why? I...

Irish Red Ale Little Red Irish Ale

Started secondary on the original recipe (first post). Nice coloring so far, held up to a ceiling fan light. I expect it to finish a deep ruby red.

    Brewers Best Apple Cider Kit

It's just a length of clean and sanitized soft copper pipe I stick on the end of my racking hose. You know that cider house yeast stinks while fermemting, no matter how much yeast nutrant you give it. Racking through copper drives off that nasty smell. Don't ask.me the science behind it all I...

    Brewers Best Apple Cider Kit

So just for giggles I brewed a Cider House apple cider kit. But I fed it plain white table sugar until the yeast died. Then i racked it through a length of sani copper pipe and finished it off as a wine. I ended up with just a little over 18% ABV. Then I cut it with 1/3 Walmart brand apple...

Irish Red Ale Little Red Irish Ale

Do you know what your efficiency % was? The grain bill I posted was for a 6 gallon batch. I know... I just have to be difficult 😂

Irish Red Ale Little Red Irish Ale

Exactly right... flame out, then add the hops, then start the chill. Gives a nice aroma to the finished beer with little to no IBU addition.

Irish Red Ale Little Red Irish Ale

Just getting back on HBT after moving and finally getting by brew room set up. I'm glad some folks tried the recipe and like it. I think the key to the red is a gentle boil for the entire 60 minutes. I'll be brewing this recipe again in a few weeks for a September wedding.

Viability of Using a Dishwasher’s Sanitize Setting

I put Star-San in the place where the detergent goes and close the door. Because mine does the same. Pumps out any water at the beginning of the cycle.
