Sink to hose adapter lost... question about cooling wort down

I lost my sink to hose adapter in a move. I couldn't find one at my local hardware store. Does anyone know where to find one online? Does Home Depot sell them? I tried looking online but couldn't find anything. Also, I want to say I read about some brewers trying out brewing without using a...

Quick Question About 10 Gallon Brewing

I am going to be making my first 10 gallon batch this weekend. I will be making BierMuncher's Centennial Blonde. I will be mashing in a 10 gallon home depot water cooler. I was also wanting to try upping my mash thickness to 1.5 qt/lb to see if it will grab a few extra efficiency points after...

    Carb Tab Question

I used Munton's Carb Tabs to carbonate my double chocolate stout. It has been over a month and the beer isn't carbed at all. I know stouts generally take longer, but I was hoping to see some carbonation by now. Any thoughts or insight would be greatly appreciated. By the way, the beer is amazing...

    AHS Purple Haze Clone

With crawfish season right around the corner I am planning on brewing a purple haze clone to go with the crawfish. Has anyone brewed this kit from AHS before? Also, I want to do the all grain version, but I have never done a wheat beer all grain. My understanding is that you have to raise the...

    Rogue Growler

I was at the liquor store today and found a 1/2 gallon growler of Rogue Dead Guy Ale. It is a sweet looking growler and it was only $12.95. Just thought I'd let you all know if you are looking for a growler. I thought it was a pretty sweet deal for a growler plus 1/2 gallon of damn good beer...

    Efficiency

My efficiency has been pretty poor since I started brewing all grain. I have a 10 gallon home depot cooler with a stainless steel braid (it's the DIY from HBT). I have beersmith and was wondering if there is a way to reduce your efficiency in the system and for the program to automatically...

    Dual Tap Despenser

Currently my kegerator has a tower with only one tap. I want to upgrade to a two tap version without modifying the current tower. I found this on eBay and was wondering if anyone had any experience in ordering from this person or if it looks like a quality tower. Any help would be greatly...

First All Grain - Ended up with too much wort

I did my first AG today and everything went great. I brewed BM's Centennial Blonde. The only problem was i ended up with probably a little over 6 gallons of wort instead of 5. I used beersmith for the water calculations. One reason could be that my propane tank started to run low and the boil...

    Small problem...

I am doing my first AG today and I forgot to get one thing...a wort chiller. My pot is 15 gallons, so an ice bath won't work. My LHBS is closed today. Should I make my own chiller? Is there another way I can chill the wort without using a chiller? Thanks for the help. :ban:

First All Grain - Centennial Blonde Questions

I am going to do my first AG this weekend and have some questions. I plugged the recipe into beersmith hoping to get the mash in and sparge water amounts, but it only gave me the mash in amount. Is there a way to set it to where it will give you both? I plan on batch sparging and set the mash...

    Sanyo 4912 keg capacity

Is it possible to fit 2 5 gallon kegs and a 3 gallon keg in the sanyo? I am just curious as to if the 3 gallon keg could sit on the back ledge.

    Sanyo 4912 or Oster 5.0?

I have the option to pick up a used sanyo 4912 or get a new oster 5.0 fridge. Due to some best buy connections, I can get the oster at a nice discount. The sanyo is in good condition. My question is, which one should I get? I am leaning towards the sanyo due to how many people have been pleased...

    Co2 Cloud

Are you supposed to be able to see the co2 cloud in the keg? I bought a 10 pound co2 tank off craigslist and I can see the cloud it left after I cleaned my keg. Is this normal?

    Bottling Question

Is it ok to sanitize bottles in the dishwasher on the heavy heated cycle and heated dry? Also, is it ok to put the sugar (after it has been boiled) into the bottom of the bucket and rack on top of it? Do I need to stir it in? Any advice would be great (it's my first time bottling.)

    Kegerator Conversion Questions

I am going to be turning either a chest freezer into a kegerator or a small refrigerator into a kegerator in the near future. I have a few questions that I hope you all will be able to help me with. 1. If I put a collar on the freezer, is silicon sufficient to keep the collar connected to the...

    Kegging equipment

I found a deal too good to pass up on some kegging equipment to pass up. It comes with a korny keg, 10 on co2 tank, plus a lot of other brewing stuff for $130. I am wondering if I could just use the keg in a deep freeze with a temp regulator without an actual tap handle and just use a hand held...

White specks on top of my first brew

My first brew is in the secondary (a honey cream ale) and a white layer has formed around the edge of the top of the carboy and it has some white specks floating at the top. I think it may just be yeast, but I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem or if it may be infected. Any help...

    A little help needed....

I am brewing a holiday ale extract right now and have a question. I added the liquid extract and of course it dropped my wort to below a boil. I added the hops after it had all dissolved, but it wasn't boiling yet. Should I start the hour once the boil starts, or when I added the hops? Thanks...

    There's Nothing Like IT

There is nothing like sitting at home and hearing UPS deliver your latest brew kit. I'll be racking my first attempt (Honey Cream Ale) to the secondary tonight and brewing my latest (Special Holiday Ale) tomorrow. Ahh, I love this new hobby.
