    Yeast question

My recommendation would be to contact the yeast manufacturer directly. I have contacted Imperial Yeast a couple times with minor questions, and they have been very prompt in responding to my questions. I looked them up, and they are sold in the UK at The Malt Miller, so you might have access...

    I can't rotate CIP ball

I purchased the SS Kegwasher when it was introduced, and back then was washing the kegs at about 150-160 degrees F. Pump just froze up and died. As it was still under warranty, I got a replacement pump free, and it too died. Those early pumps were notoriously bad, but after pumping at...

    I can't rotate CIP ball

Ok, so I beat Deadulus to the punch, and measured my SSBT spray head, and for giggles took a pic of their pump as well. The spray head is about 9/16" or about 13 mm (even tho it looks 5/8" in the pic... The angle the camera to the spray head exaggerates that size) so it is very small. FWIW the...

    I can't rotate CIP ball

Fascinating. All this time I have been using it between 160-165 F and it has never had a hiccup.

    I can't rotate CIP ball

Just a side not to my post above. I use my pump with a 1.5" spray head, so you would likely require a pump that could have a higher flow rate with your 4" spray head.

    I can't rotate CIP ball

I use this sump pump. Pretty cheat, at around $60.00. I bought it from Amazon eight years ago, and it works great, even in water with temps around 165 deg F. It spins the hell out of the CIP ball, and it can clean so much better than I ever could, especially in my Unitank...

Boil kettle condenser - no overhead ventilation needed

Here is mine... Side mounted Steam Slayer on my Spike kettle. I've had this for about five years, and never any issues. Also, I have posted a link to it in operation on my you tube channel.

    Need help finding thread

A while back I found a thread here regarding a different way to do the mash-in process. To summarize (as best I can) the grain is added to the Mash Tun before water is put into the tun, then water is pumped into the bottom of the tun to do the mash-in. I thought the thread was interesting...

    Bottling for NAHB Competition

Unfortunately I think you are right. Well, hell, I think I'm just gonna brew another batch of my future soon to be gold medal winning golden concoction. (I'm a bit of an optimist, and a Salesman!!!)

    Bottling for NAHB Competition

Actually Max, that's a great idea. National is in June, Regionals are in April. That should actually give me enough time to make, ferment drink and bottle a great beer.

    Bottling for NAHB Competition

Hey all, I am entering the NAHB 2025 competition, and am curious on how you all handle your bottling "strategy" for this, especially with the not unreasonable expectation that you are going to win it all. This means that not only will you have to submit your marvelous creation to a regional...

How Many Gallons Brewed in 2023

Hey John A, you added this to the 2023 totals. Didn't you mean for that to go to 2024?

Gallons Brewed History + Updates needed

Exactly! People will always enjoy beer, and many people will still like to make beer, no matter the decline. Did you add it to the 2024 totals?

Gallons Brewed History + Updates needed

I made my annual post to the " How many gallons brewed in..." thread today. For the heck of it, I decided to go back and see how we did versus years past. I searched by title, but could only find threads going back to 2019, and it's a pretty drastic drop off in production. High year was 2019...

How the heck do I read this hydrometer?

I just looked it up on Amazon. They had the glass cylinders available, but all of them had volume markings on them. I'd love to find ones like the OP pictured. (Sorry to do a little hijack of the thread, CafeRoaster)

    Glycol Chiller madness!

I have an older ~ five year old SS Brewtech Chiller. Works great even with two fermenters. I can cold crash to about 35 deg F, altho being in Seattle area, we really don't have super hot days, so it's not really stressing the chiller like it would if I was in Texas or thereabouts. That...

    Frozen yeast bank procedure

I'm not going to repeat what everyone else has said, except to say, "Thank You"! This answers so many questions for me. I'm ordering my vials etc on Amazon now ... going to give this a try ASAP. Thanks again.
