    Measuring yeast

Okay gotcha. Using a half sounds good to me. I’m doing experimental cider brews and dont want to use a whole packet if I don’t have to.

    Measuring yeast

It’s cider yeast - 9grams and it says it’s for 5-6 gallons. Should I just use a whole packet or measure it out so I can use the rest of the packet for another brew. I’d rather measure it out so I have a couple more brews out of one packet.

    Measuring yeast

What’s the best way to measure out yeast from a 9gram packet. I’m doing one gallon experimental brews and the packet is for 5 gallons. What would be the best way to measure out a fifth? Weigh it with a scale? What would you guys do?

    Simplest Recipe?

I’m a noob with all of this still so cut me some slack lol. So I did a little research about making an easy hard cider. Basically apple juice and yeast. Has anyone every tried this? I read one person adding a cup of corn sugar to increase alcohol content a little. Is it really that easy...

    Nasty looking ring in carboy!

Yes it is secondary. And I waited 2 weeks and 2 days and the fg was 1.11 and I assumed it was done fermenting. I added the hops when I Transferred it. I assumed they would sort of mix in instead of just floating ontop

    Nasty looking ring in carboy!

So I transferred my beer into the secondary carboy, and added the chinook hops as the recipe called for. I haven’t checked it since Monday and now I have a nasty looking ring on the top. I’m going to attach a picture. I had moved the carboy and it made some of it fall to the bottom, so that’s...

    Bottling - twist off?

Will a wing capper seal twist off bottle? Researched a little online and got mixed reviews. I have some normal bottles and some twist off, I just wasn’t sure if the twist offs are reusable with a wing capper

    First brew - questions

I agree. My plan is once I transfer the beer to the secondary tank, I want to brew up a wheat beer Incase I don’t like the chinook ipa. I’m not too keen on IPAs. I like my blue moon, shock top, allagash white and I like most lagers haha.

    First brew - questions

Got my deluxe northern brewer with chinook ipa. Brewed it on Wednesday. Airlock started bubbling Thursday night and I checked it yesterday and it is bubbling constantly. Is constant bubbling a good sign of fermentation? Also is it normal for the beer to have 2 color tones to it? It’s in a...
