*advice needed* Hops exploding with life, I'm a bit overwhelmed!

So I have a plant that's three years old this season, and it's really showing me it's full strength this year! I want to be able to get the full potential out of my plane but I'm not exactly sure what to do at this stage as far as pruning goes. I counted 62 shoots growing at the moment and I'm...

    Hop crop 2017

Aren't hops poisonous to dogs? Do you do anything to prevent them from getting to the cones? Or is it just that your pup is too smart and knows better?

Ripped grain bag arrived in shipment

Thanks guys that definitely cleared things up I think I'll keep a solid relationship with NB and use the grains as is. No need to complain if you all say it's fine. I'm sure if they were milled it would be a much different story.. then I most likely would've complained! Thanks once again, love...

Ripped grain bag arrived in shipment

So I ordered two all grain kits from Northern Brewer, Kama citra and their nut brown ale. I'm super excited to brew these as they both sound delicious.. (especially that brown ale mmm)... Anyways, I received the package today, everything seemed fine up until I started inspecting the grains...

    Induction Controller?

Aha, good, good! I'd hate to hear of a fellow Brewer getting hurt :p

    Induction Controller?

No gfi or afi in there indeed.. also be careful in there man! The entire mid section of that panel board is full of live metal + wires... I wouldn't be poking around in there if you don't know what you're looking at!

    Induction Controller?

This is a very good point. A 208v appliance *will* work on a 240v circuit... But, it will actually be receiving more voltage than needed, and eventually the electronics within would stop working... The heating portion will probably work better than normal due to the over voltage but like I...

    2000W heating element with a 15a plug

Just noticed you said the cord wiring is rated for 15 amps, I would change that out to a 12 gauge cord if you have the chance.. if not, just don't leave it alone when you're brewing lol. At the peak of heating up, grab the cord, if it's hot to the touch, then I'd worry. Just because the heater...

    2000W heating element with a 15a plug

I'm a 4 year electrical apprentice.. studying to take my journeyman's test. Most outlets that you see that are rated at 15amps are good for 15-20 amps. It says it right in the National Electrical Code (NEC). You're good, man, just make sure your wiring to the plugs is 12 gauge all the way from...

Extremely long batch sparge due to E.R visit

Update: Been 3 hours since pitching, already seeing bubbles in my blow off setup. I've never had a batch show signs of life 3 hours after pitching.. this oughta be good

Extremely long batch sparge due to E.R visit

Figured I wasn't the only one :p I'm actually excited, pitched yeast 2 hours ago, Omega West coast ale 2, harvested from an Irish red ale.. pitched into a 1.050 Citra American IPA. Hoping to see some action soon, had it going in a starter for 24 hours on a stir plate. Can't wait to taste the...

Extremely long batch sparge due to E.R visit

It didn't seem to smell funny.. though I have nothing to compare it with seeing as it's my first AG batch. I'll boil it and see how it goes It does have a layer floating on top which appears to be coagulated proteins or something of that matter. Hopefully not an infection. As for my SO.. :)...

Extremely long batch sparge due to E.R visit

Title kinda explains it.. Basically, I had started my very first all grain batch, everything was going smooth.. I mashed for 60 mins at a temp of 156, then drained into kettle, added my sparge water all at once for a batch sparge.. then got a call from my SO saying I needed to bring her to the...
