    Adding Water to Wort

So here's my concern. I've calculated my recipe for a 3-gallon batch. I have to be honest, I've never paid attention to how much water really boils off when brewing. I've googled it and some people say 1 gallon/hour, others say 2.5. If too much boils off I think my alcohol content will be...

    Secondary Fermentation Split

Because I'm doing a Belgian Tripel and every recipe seems to ask for a secondary after 5 or 6 days. I normally do just that, one long fermentation, then bottle.

    Secondary Fermentation Split

Hi All, Question, I have a 5 gallon carboys and several 1 gallon jugs. 3 gallon batches are the perfect size for me since I'm doing a lot of experimenting with different recipes. From what I've read, it seems like having a lot of air (or space) in the carboy during first fermentation is...

    Rosemary and Ginger in Mead

Hi All, Has anyone experimented with these 2 ingredients in their mead? I'm thinking about making a tea out of both (not sure if I will boil separately or together) and add that to the wort. Has anyone tried this method? I'm hoping this will allow me to control to flavor profile a bit more.

    Mash Tun for Bottling Bucket

Ah ok, that makes sense about scratches in the plastic. Can't use my boil kettle cause it doesn't have a valve :(

    Mash Tun for Bottling Bucket

Hi, Is there a reason I don't hear more people doing this? It would be great to save space and have a dual purpose for my mash tun, which is a converted gatorade water jug. It would also be great because I could easily filter out the hops. Thanks in advance for any help!

    Bottle Exploding

Hi, I'm making mead which seems to have a bigger risk of exploding then beer. Maybe not but that's what it seems like. Either way, how do I know when my bottles are safe? For instance, if it's been 2 weeks without them exploding, is it safe to say they never will? Or am I never safe...
