    Off Flavors

I made a Snow cap clone a few weeks ago, it doesn't taste like Snow cap but I'm okay with that. It does have a banana flavor and I was hoping to get an idea why. The OG was 1.070 and I piched one vial of WLP011 at 68F and it fermented for 2 weeks at 64F to 68F. After the 2 weeks I put it in the...

First All grain started bad but I think I saved it.

I think I'll wait till the weather warms up before trying it again. I did learn that my electric stove top can handle 6.5 gal. Thanks for your advice. I love this place.

First All grain started bad but I think I saved it.

I'm using a Bayou Classic I got for Chrismas. It was my first time using it. I thought the flame looked a little low. May be I should try to get a new regulator.

First All grain started bad but I think I saved it.

It was a long night. It took so long to get a boil going. Everything went well but I think I could have boiled a bit longer. I was left with just over 5 gal and I missed my target gravity. I was shooting for 1.074 and I got 1.064. Next time I just boil a bit longer till I get my target volume...

First All grain started bad but I think I saved it.

New lesson learned. Don't try to make beer when it's 26 degrees out side. It's been on the burner for two and a half hours and still no boil. It's going to be a long night.

First All grain started bad but I think I saved it.

First all grain started bad but I think I saved it. When I mashed in, the manifold in the bottom of my mash tun fell apart. I freaked out but I got everything in my kettle and cleaned my mash tun and put it back together. At this point my mash temp was about 20 degrees off. I had to add an extra...

    dual-pot all grain brewing

I've only brewing for a few months and I am going to try my first all grain in October after I move. I've been looking for the same thing, but I thought aluminum was bad. Am I wrong? If I am that could make my life easier.

    New guy from Zanesville, OH

I've been leerking for a few days and had to join in. I developed a taste for good beer while I lived in Seattle. Then I moved to Zanesville. I went from Micro brew country to macro brew nation. I couldn't handle the fact that I couldn't get an IPA or an ESB at any of the bars in town. For four...
