There's a fly in my fermenter!!

Not sure how or when it happened. Maybe during the boil? Hopefully not during the cool down or hop stand... but there is a dead fly in my glass fermenter. Ill spend the next three weeks wondering about what sort of effect its going to have on my beer. Any thoughts from those with similar...

Has anyone considered or tried drying the grains left over from the mash tun, grinding them, and making bread? Is it possible?

    Cleaning Kegs

I'm wondering if its necessary to clean and sanitize my keg between beers. for instance, i finish the keg... why not just keep it pressurized in the fridge until my next batch is ready? Theoretically, if my last batch didn't spoil, the keg should be in pretty decent shape in terms of bacteria...

    Giving to friends

So I've kegged my first beers, and I love them! How can I share this with people? Can I just fill growlers or mason jars and expect them to hold their fizz for a day or two? How long after filling a growler is the beer still drinkable?

    Kegging without the trub

    correct mashing procedure

I'm following this recipe.... http://www.eckraus.com/blog/heady-topper-double-ipa-clone-recipe I will say im happy with results thus far... i've attempted it twice. I'm unclear why my original gravity after the boil is 1.058 as opposed to the 1.078. I assume this has to do mash...

    Newbie yeast starter paranoia

I'm in the midst of my first yeast starter. There seems to be so many different tutorials and strategies... i chose a method that calls for boiling 1 cup DME with 1500ml water and mixing it with a smack pack (at 80 +/- degrees). newbie issue number one... I only have a 1l flask, so i filled...

    Stuck Fermentation??

For my first all grain brew Im trying one of the Heady topper clones - http://www.eckraus.com/blog/heady-topper-double-ipa-clone-recipe. I've done a couple of things incorrectly. For starters, I didn't make a yeast starter due to timing ( I didn't consider it until too late and i didn't want...
