    beer for donations

A little off topic, but it's something I always wondered. If I plan to brew a batch of beer, and a friend of mine offers to pay for ingredients if I share some of the final product with them, is that illegal? I'm not making a profit, or if I do it would be a small profit. For example, my...

    Free Beer for feedback

Psh, John Hancock. It's HERBIE Hancock! Anyway, OP I see your location says SE Texas. Whereabouts? I'm in Houston and would love to do my best to give you feedback as far as an average Joe drinker goes. I won't be able to give you BJCP type feedback, but a simple "Yeah this is good, and I...

    Advice on buying used keggle

Ahh dang I always forget to account for boil-off so your initial wort volume is different. Probably why I end up with half empty fermenters and go "Wait.. what just happened?"

    Advice on buying used keggle

Sounds like a challenge to me! But seriously, 2 gallons worth of headspace isn't enough?

    Keggle Question

Thanks Blender! I was looking for pics on google and I searched on here and couldn't find anything. That picture is perfect! I will drill holes tomorrow then!

    Keggle Question

Hey everyone, I just picked up a sanke keg from a guy of Craigslist and I hope to convert it to a keggle soon. I just had a question about the dangers of boiling with these. I have heard that you need to have holes in the skirt, but I'm not sure why. Are these the right holes? When...

The stupidest comment on your beer

Yeah the pronunciation thing just irks me. The real kicker was how he thought it was a different style of beer similar to stouts, and since I am not the kind of guy to beat you over the head and say "YOU'RE WRONG" I tried the gentle "Oh, I always thought....." and he was just like "No, you were...

The stupidest comment on your beer

When discussing Stouts: "Yeah I really like Guinness DRAWT (Draught, pronounced draft as you all know), but I'm not a big fan of the whole DRAWT style of beer." Me trying to explain how draught is pronounced draft, and is called such because of the widget and how it is supposed to be like a...

    Source of common infections

I have to agree with Jdecarol. Lohan is a large source of some common infections, and many uncommon ones!

    Bad Beer Day! (WARNING: VENT!)

Hey, I love Busch! I love all types: the beer, the president, the well trimmed shrub, the well trimmed...... anyway I think you get the idea!:D

    Bad Beer Day! (WARNING: VENT!)

Amen to that! I have another Busch in the fridge, and a Schlitz Malt liquor in there too. Thinking about erecting some sort of beer altar and sacrificing those two objects in the hopes of a good brew day! I got to my LHBS and opened the bucket for Maris Otter and thought **** because I...

    Bad Beer Day! (WARNING: VENT!)

Hey everyone, just had to vent my frusrtation. Woke up this morning, expecting my package of hops from HopsDirect to come today. In anticipation of that event, I figured I'd go ahead and make a starter today, run to the LHBS and pick up my grains, and either brew tomorrow or Sunday. I take...

How to Make a Yeast Starter **Video**

I have watched a TON of starter videos on YouTube, most of which are pretty poor, so I wasn't really expecting much from this video. I am happy to say that I was pleasantly surprised. This video is the most professional type video I have seen, and very informative. I am definitely...

love to brew but dont drink much.

Extra beer?? You mean.... ESB right? Surely, you don't mean surplus.... I don't think I even know what that word means! OP, I feel you on this one. I don't drink a lot either, and I don't even brew as much as some people on here!

    Anyone have a Fireman's 4 Clone?

I'm really shooting in the dark here carrotmalt. I'll be going to Austin at the end of the month on my way to a Sacred Harp singing, so I'll probably buy the AHS clone recipe while I'm there.

    Anyone have a Fireman's 4 Clone?

I meant WLP007, don't know why I typed 002. I used Tettnang for bittering and aroma, and Willamette for flavor. Followed the AHS recipe.

    Anyone have a Fireman's 4 Clone?

Congratulations on the new baby! Yeah it probably is just the yeast allowing the hop character to come through. I'm in the process of brewing a Red Hook clone, sampled it today and it tasted like grapefruits to me! Maybe my perception of hop flavor is just odd.
