Has anyone used Clarity Ferm in Sours/Mixed Fermentation Beer?

Searched around quite a bit and haven't found anything on the subject. I'm about to co pitch lacto, brett and sacc in a Mixed fermentation beer. Thinking about trying Clarity Ferm in it. Since I've been cutting down on gluten, my inflammation has stopped and I have way more energy. So I've been...

    Cooler MashTun Attacked By Rats

Yeah... Well I guess I got kinda Lucky. Looked around at all of my furniture and didn't see any other droppings or damage. I know after all those years some wort must have soaked up inside the insulation.

Brew day before leaving on vacation....yes or no?

What do your beers usually do during this time? I wouldn't worry, set the whole thing in the tub if its really that big of a beer or an unfamiliar yeast strain.

    experimenting outside the kits.......

I agree with everyone here. Start with what you like and go from there. The sky is the limit! But don't expect every experiment to be good. And do not try a 100% specialty grain mash... it will not be 100% specially good ... trust me lol. And use habaneros sparingly... Beer smith is great...

    Cooler MashTun Attacked By Rats

I thought some of you might get a kick out of this. I know I am pretty sad about it. I have mostly all of my homebrewing equipment currently in a storage unit. Recently bought The Grainfather. Wasn't very pleased with the invariable plastic black tap on the sparge unit, so i decided to put the...

You know you're a home brewer when?

This has worked for me. Add it to your resume somewhere. "Scaling, manipulating and perfecting sensitive recipes" "Cleaning, sanitizing and proper storage of specialized equipment" Landed me a comfy lab tech job. That was about half of the interview.

Can I cut my c02 dip tube to get more beer in the keg?

Thanks guys. I know the extra pint could be trivial I am just trying to keep things simple. With no waste. And With no beer shooting out, that would be a plus...

Can I cut my c02 dip tube to get more beer in the keg?

Very true. I have decided not to cut already, started putting it back together. I bottle condition almost always, now I've built a dandy 3 tap chalkboard keezer and I am learning the ropes. Although if someone has had a failed/successful experiment with this I would love to hear.

Can I cut my c02 dip tube to get more beer in the keg?

Ok so I've looked around on here and could only find one person mentioning it once. So Ill ask experienced keggers, as I've been mostly bottle conditioning for a few years. I have heard that if the beer level hits the c02 dip tube, it will not carbonate. Last time I kegged, I believe it was...

legal or illegal maybe just not right

Your neighbor's actions disgust me. If this was me I would be worried what my friends and family would say or do to them after they found out about this. What were they thinking doing something like this? Wrong in all sorts of ways. Damn, I wish we were neighbors! Would have a brewing and ska...

Recommendations for a Belgian saison yeast

Give Mangrove Jack's M27 Belgian Ale a try. I have had lots of success with it, several saisons. It compliments the nice earthy type flavors I think of associated with saisons. The package says ferment 78F-90F or something like that, but I have had a few great beers at 70F-75F. Always finishes...

Help with Juicy + Spicy IPA? Mango Habanero?

Take my advice from personal experience. I used 2 mangos and 1 habanero for a gallon (Secondary). Completely bombed it super spicy. No mango flavor at all. After a couple months in the bottle the heat calmed down. I will be thinking of grams of habanero next time. Maybe get it it mango...

    True or False?

I absolutely love doing all-grain, and a basic gravity fed system is actually pretty damn cheap. I calculated after 5-6 batches it pays for itself. And yeah, my beer got considerably better after the switch from extract. The choices! It is like 100 times more enjoyable building an AG recipe...

    Help! Leaky fermentation bucket lid

Hey... I don't think I saw anyone touch on this. I have been able to pinch the rim of the lid inwards before applying to the bucket-with force/rubber mallet. that helped me quite a bit. Almost every time I had a leak, that worked. Although I agree it doesn't really matter. But, I do love my S...

Do You Brew if you are Sick?

Ha, sounds like my boss! I have though been sick enough to do a really lousy job at work but still be able to brew just as good. I guess I just really enjoy brewing and that contributed to me feeling better. Some people experience sicknesses much worse than others, tho.

Moving Into A Brewtio/Brewfficiency. Electric Advice Please?

One word: Grainfather! A couple more: About to purchase in a couple weeks. I have talked to and read 50+ people tell me this is really the way to go. Some folks even talk about selling their whole RIMS/HERMS(I think thats how you spell it)build to brew in their kitchen with it. I cannot wait...

    Help with bottling Hoppy beers

Alright, I went back and tried some older IPAs and couple other hoppy ones. My conclusion: If you are bottle conditioning, I think there is a greater advantage to adding at FWH and flameout. The ones I did that with all still have a pretty pronounced hop character. However, my IPAs that have...
