    I've just got my thermowell for my fermenter, should I fill the well with liquid first (H2O, oil) then insert the probe, or use it dry?

    CO2 Regulator keeps increasing??

    Just tried it without being hooked up to the keg, backed the dial all the way out, and it climbed to 30psi in seconds. --It's definatly a dud, my buddy has the exact same one, and took it over, his works and once it's set, it doesn't climb or decrease.

    I force carbed @ around 30psi, then relieved the keg of all the pressure. I have another regulator (different brand) that I tried on the same keg and once it is set, it does not fluccuate.

    I just got a new CO2 regulator, I'll set it to a certain pressure (5psi) to dispense, but if I leave the gas on the pressure keeps increasing, after an hour it'll get up to 30psi. Did I buy a lemon or is there a fix for this, I tried de-pressurizing the keg, but the pressure just keeps creeping up.

    Notty pitching rates?

    One 11g pack of Notty is enough to do a 5gal(20l) batch. I recently bought a 500g pack of Notty, and it says to pitch 100g per 100l, therefore 20g per 20l(5gal), just wondering why the difference of pitching rates??

    Beer filtering

    Just tried to filter a batch of beer with a cartridge water filter, using a 1 micron nominal filter, I heard that this will make crystal clear beer -- but I don't see a difference from the unfiltered to the filtered!? Has anyone had any luck with this type of set up??

    Britesorb for chillhaze

    Does anyone use britesorb for clearing and chillhaze? If so, how effective is the product?

    Problems with Mesquite Smoked Chili Dog Lager

    The only suggestion I can think of is, when adding the "flavouring" maybe add it in the secondary, I think fermenting all of that would disrupt the "beer" flavours, because what you are looking for is a "flavoured" beer. But, it definitly takes balls to make a brew like that!!

    Will frost hurt my rhizomes?

    I just got my rhizomes, planted them about 1" under the soil. Then wondered if a frost would hurt them, there are mixed reveiws on the web, does anyone have some first hand experience with frost? I'm in NS Canada, the lows are around 2C-4C, but frosts are not uncommon within the next month -...

    Pump/filter set-up

    I had no aeration problems, used a 5 micron filter, and the beer is hazy. The filter didn't seem to have any affect on clarity, perhaps a 1 micron filter? But at this point (after clean up, etc.) it doesn't seem worth it, as far as competitions go - time and gelatin maybe the best answer.

    Does anyone use a pump and H20 filter set up to filter uncarbed beer? I've seen CO2 / filter transfers, but none using a march pump. My plan is to pump from my conical, through the march pump, into the filter then into a corny (using a valve to control flow and reduce chance of aeration)...

    Help Me Choose A Plate Chiller

    I have a Therminator, and love it, it chills 10 gal in 5 min to 68oF using 58oF cooling water at 5 gpm. It is a liitle more expensive though.

    Crankandstein not grinding!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Factory setting, and reducing the speed to 175rpm did the trick. I have to start the motor first then slowly add the grain til it starts to crush, then I dump the whole bucket in. I get 20lbs crushed in about 1min 40sec. After the little bit of trouble I had, I still think it is a fantastic mill.

    Any ideas on what to do with a stainless steel ( wort chiller) ?

    Make a chiller out of copper, and use the stainless one for the coil on a "pot still" project!

    lalvin EC 1

    I have tasted a russian imperial made with lavlin ec 1118, and it was a fantastic beer. I'd say give it a try, experimentation is the beauty of homebrewing!
