    Breweries in Los Angeles area

Hello all, I'll be heading out to LA for a few short work trips in February and March, was wondering if locals had any insight on some local breweries/brewpubs to check out while I'm there. Love supporting local no matter where I'm at, so let the suggestions fly! [emoji1] Thanks!

High gravity after two weeks in primary

Hydrometer. Took an OG reading after chilling the wort, before pitching the yeast. It was Safale S-04 dry yeast... and that's another thing I didn't do was hydrate the yeast before pitching, just sprinkled on top.

High gravity after two weeks in primary

It was recommended in the instructions, but I'm hearing more and more that it might not be necessary. It's a lower ABV beer so I would understand not doing so. How long would be too long in primary at the very least?

Brown ale fermentation, temp too cold?

I moved it from my basement to underneath my half-bathroom sink. It appeared to pick up immediately, then checked a few hours later and it was moving along even more, and I checked this morning and it was chugging like crazy! My guess is that the yeast have woken up nicely :) Next step -...

Brown ale fermentation, temp too cold?

Thanks guys, I'm certainly glad I thought of this now rather than two weeks down the road. Does it just need a bit of shaking or swirling as far as agitating it goes?

Brown ale fermentation, temp too cold?

Hi all, New to this forum, looking forward to reading everyone's stories and experiences. On Saturday night I brewed a one gallon batch of Chestnut Brown Ale (from Brooklyn Brew Shop). It's only my second attempt at homebrewing, so I'm still learning. Yeast was pitched at around 11:20pm...
