Temp probe location on my 1st keezer?

Howdy brewers. I've been using mini fridges as ferm chambers. I have a bungee cord around each bucket, insulate the stc-1000 prob by carving a small notch out of some thick/dense foam. The bare part of the probe goes against the bucket, the foam part protects from ambient air readings. I was...

Taprite regulator, to washer or not to washer?

That's the question. Be it nobler in the mind to suffer the outrageous CO2 leaks, or get it right the first time? But truly, I like to do my homework (at least regarding brewing and drinking beer). Normally I can sift through the detritus and figure out what's correct. But it seems 50/50...

I've given up on dry hopping.

Dry hopping isn't difficult. And I do love the aroma it provides. But since I bottle, I don't get the shelf life to make it worthwhile imo. The splendor of it fades too quickly. I'm gonna try hop stands, just to get flavor in my brew that hopefully will last a little longer. If I were to switch...

Accidentally dry hopped with Northern Brewer rather than Cascade

The idea was to dry hop with 3 oz of Cascade, which I like. But put in the Northern Brewer instead (which I use exclusively for bittering additions at the beginning of the boil). A good lesson learned. While the beer is drinkable, it certainly gave it a different flavor. Not my favorite IPA I've...

My first IPA is a little too carbonated.

Howdy brewers. Batch #11 was my first IPA. Nothing but amber ales to this point. I use the Palmer chart to figure out the amount of table sugar to add at bottling. Always has been spot on in the past. This batch was my first attempt at dry hopping. 3 oz Cascade just thrown in, no hop sock. Cold...

Just curious. How many batches before you're not a beginner?

I'm working on my 9th batch. I have made great strides. Just curious when did you folks consider yourself an intermediate? Cheers.

Can I repitch yeast from the following batch?

Hey all. I screwed up while mashing. I got the temps too high. Thus, I have wort that just won't get down to reasonable FG's. It was my 5th batch. SG was 1.074, FG 1.034. I'm gonna bottle it anyway, see what's what. But can I repitch the yeast without ruining my next batch? All I brew so far is...

Can I bottle condition in 85 F situation

Hello all brewers. My 4th batch is fermenting as I write this. The help here on the forum has been invaluable. Thanks to all 4 sharing info/experience. My concern as I plan for summer regards bottle conditioning. I have the Palmer chart for quantities to add of dextrose or table sugar regarding...
