    Ph meter advice

What PH meters are you guys using? Is it worth spending the extra cash for the fancy ones or will the $15ish ones on Amazon work fine?

    Gelled beer...stuck keg...help

Interesting idea. I’m going to try to remove the post and clean it again. If that doesn’t work I may go this route. Thanks.

    Gelled beer...stuck keg...help

So I brewed Vinny’s Pliny the Elder clone that I’ve made several times, but this time had another ale in fermentation at the same time and decided to clarify both with gel which I’ve done with countless beers. The other ale I did at the same time went fine. However, the Pliny clone clogged up...

    Getting plate chiller, some questions.

Pic of my setup and pump/chiller location.

    Getting plate chiller, some questions.

Shouldn’t really matter where you mount the chiller in the setup height wise. However, it shouldn’t be any lower than your pump as that should be the lowest point on the system. I have my Therminator mounted on a platform right next to my pump which currently sits on the ground. I’ve got legs...

equipment upgrades you wish you had from the start

    1. Kegging system. I hated bottling to the point that I didn’t brew as much until I started kegging and built a kegerator. 2. A good burner. Started out with a low end turkey cooker style that didn’t have much power. Got a blichmann Hellfire awhile back and the speed to boil is a huge...

    Over chilled wort

Thanks. Planning on that. I put a thrumometer on order when I bought the chiller. My LHBS just didn’t have the 1/2” model in stock to go with my plumbing. I’m sure that will help.

    Over chilled wort

    Over chilled wort

So I ran into a problem on a brew today that I never expected to happen... Been brewing for several years with an old diy immersion coil. Well, I got a Therminator for Christmas and finished up my brew today and after cutting the boil off, whirlpooled for about 5mins and then pumped through the...

    Need keggerator help!

Ok, so the fan idea makes sense as we have been keeping a lot of food and other beer in the fridge with the kegs lately. However, the strange things is that the first 1/2 of the first pint is perfect and then it goes to 95% foam after that no matter how long I let it run. Seems as though the...

    Need keggerator help!

Ok guys. I need some help and ideas here. I have a side by side fridge that I converted and built into my keggerator. I'm generally running one commercial keg and one home brew. The system worked perfectly for about 1.5 years and in the last couple of months has really started acting up and...

Anyone try out the new Perlick 650SS Stainless Flow Control?

My handles are about 5" apart which leaves about 3.5" between the flow control and the side of the next faucet. I would say you could easily go down to 3" between handles and still have plenty of room to reach the flow control. As long as you have at least 1.5" between the flow lever and the...

American Pale Ale Da Yooper's House Pale Ale

This looks right up the alley of what I've been looking for for one of my taps as a house ale that I can do in 10gal batches. Planning to try it out this week. Yooper, have you made any updates or anything or are you still using the original recipie? Still using s05? Any thought on using wlp001...

Winter Seasonal Beer Holly (Christmas Ale)

Gotcha. Yeah, we had a party and my wife wanted a Christmas beer on tap. I was afraid of the time frame and you're right on. Tastes like a vanilla dreamsickle. Maybe I'll take it off tap and set it aside for a few weeks and try it again in late January.

Winter Seasonal Beer Holly (Christmas Ale)

So I brewed this about six weeks ago, primary for two weeks, secondary for two weeks then transferred to serving keg at which point I made the tea per the ingredients listed and added it to the serving keg. I let it sit for two weeks (wanted more time to age, but got started on it late this year...

Anybody? I have it set to hit 2.4 right now but let me know if it should be different.

Winter Seasonal Beer Holly (Christmas Ale)

I may be missing it but what co2 volume did you carbonate this up to? About to throw it in the Keggerator and hook it up to a tank tonight.
