About to keg for first time

Welp, seems to have went off without a hitch. Sooo much nicer than bottling and having to keep all of them around. Of course I poured half a glass after about 10 mins of force carbing. Needless to say, it was still flat. Decided to turn it down to 3 ish psi and let it sit for a week or two...

    RIS kit gravity

10 days in primary. I figure it's still young yet but the recipe said 10-20 days. Just wanting confirmation I'm on the right path I guess! Am getting a little excited...

    RIS kit gravity

Hi, took a couple years off brewing extract. Now starting again with a Russian Imperial Stout. Have a couple questions if you don't mind... OG is supposed to be around 1.092. Mine was 1.082. It's been 10 days and now it's at 1.018. When I saw that I was thrilled but then I tasted it and don't...

First time carboy fermentation question with pictures

Per the BF calculator beer came out with 83% yeast attenuation at 6.69% with a final gravity of 1.01. Smells good. Tastes good. It almost has a dry champagne smell at parts if you take a big long smell. Is this because of the fermentation temp fluctuations? I'm gonna wait two weeks before trying...

First time carboy fermentation question with pictures

Ok thanks. Bung comes out when I pull on airlock or blow off hose. Didn't seem right but whatever works I guess...I'll look for a bigger one. I'm hoping to brew this weekend or beginning of next week. Sent from my iPad using Home Brew

First time carboy fermentation question with pictures

Thanks for the heads up. That water was nasty! Next time I will use a separate bucket with starsan. This was my first time using a blow off and I did it kind of hastily. The airlock is back on it. I'm giving the bucket a bath in some smell good bath stuff. Is the top of the bung not suppose to...

First time carboy fermentation question with pictures

Just took a sample reading. Gravity is at 1.012. Starting was 1.062. My starting was just below the low end per the kit instructions. Im sure I can make improvements in my process and cooling procedures which could help me get into the higher end of the OG. I'm Gonna check again in 2 days. Will...

    New extract brewer summer temps

Hello, was wondering what a good beer (kit) was for hot summer temps. I can control my temps effectively at this point between 66F and 72f. Being honest it'll prob run towards the hotter of that (so not sure how effective that really is yet...). I'm looking to brew my third kit in about 2 weeks...

    Worms in the bung

I'm new so I don't know much about what could of caused this within your brewing process but my first question is was your equipment brand new? And if so did you clean in thoroughly before you sanitized? And how did you sanitize? Equipment of any sort gets sooo many contaminants through...

First time carboy fermentation question with pictures

I'll try to keep the temp at 68 which was the original plan but seems to stall out any lower than that...this is my second brew. Def better temp control than my first which was left at room temp. So hopefully I'll get this dialed in...I think my top priority will be cooling wort down effectively...
