    STC-1000 & Fermentation Chamber Configuration

I had a similar problem when I first set mine up. It took about 2 days for it to acclimate, now it holds a steady temperature without all the flip flop of going cool then heat then back to cool. Sent from my iPad using Home Brew

I have scoured the internet and cannot seem to find any green plastic screw on caps for PET bottles. Anyone know where I can get some or have about 24 I can purchase?

My $60 Single Vessel Fermentation Chamber

Great write up! For heat, I used a plain old fashioned heating pad. Works great, reaches desired temperature setting surprisingly fast. Instead of wrapping the bulb with foil, line the inside of your cardboard box with it. I've done that in the past with great results as well.

    temp controller for chest freezer

Yes but it would take a little work. You would need to bypass the internal thermostat and let the temperature controller handle it that way. The one problem with this is on some models, if you "disable" the thermostat, this would also disable the anti frost/freeze switch. This would cause a...

    Things a Homebrewer Thinks

I read once on the internet that drinking excessive amounts of alcohol can cause severe health complications and even death. It was at that time I decided to myself, that's it I'm never reading again!

    temp controller for chest freezer

For the price, I would definitely go with the dual control. It's better to have the option to heat and never use it than to not have it and need it.

Chest Freezer and Temp Controller *WHICH* ?

Also, I don't think a 7cf chest freezer will be big enough. Maybe 3 kegs if you store co2 bottle outside. I don't see 3 kegs and a carboy fitting in there. Keep checking Craig's list, garage sales, estate sales. Can grab fairly nice chest freezers relatively cheap.

Chest Freezer and Temp Controller *WHICH* ?

I use the STC-1000. Took me less than an hour to hook up, minimal wiring and got it off ebay shipped for just under 20 bucks.

8 beers you should stop drinking immediately

Stop genetically modifying foods and see what happens. There will not be enough corn to go around. Worldwide shortages of corn would start mass hysteria. Then who do you think would have the purchasing power to purchase large bulks of this corn while in shortage? Bread companies? Bakeries...

Most annoying response when you tell someone you're a homebrewer?

My favorite response is, "damn! You must really be an alcoholic or something". But like most of you I get the same general interest replies to snobby replies. And then they try one of my recipes and they are at my house humping on my leg like a love struck puppy to get more.

Ok folks I finally have money to spend on equipment and I need some advice

You can easily get temperature controllers off ebay for around $20. They are from china and use Celsius temperature settings, tons of conversion charts out there as well. Providing you have a fridge to hook your temp controller in to, you are set. Controlling your fermentation temps is the next...
