    Whats your keg set up?

I've tried to re-force carbonate for a few days and its still flat. The extra feet of line did remove some foam. With just my luck the fans been going out in this Fridge. I think its time to make this thing a fermenter and build a keezer...

    Whats your keg set up?

Drunkel that's a really helpful post. Its just an old fridge I picked up from a buddy who was moving. I have a thermometer in there to gauge the temp and it reads 40-45f. The frozen foam was shortly after I turned the fridge up to the coldest mark (before it was at a 5 on a 1-9 scale). I'll...

    Whats your keg set up?

So I'm new to this, and science was never my strength. It took 27 years and a love to beer to get excited about the process... I took my second brew and threw it in a sanitized corny keg. I bought and replaced the O-Rings to ensure I didn't have escaping pressure issues... so I thought. I read...

Where do you shop for your gear?

I'm new to the Homebrew scene. Last night I picked up my first two Corny Keg setups and asked the guy how he found them. He said he's actually found luck at Antique shops and pawn shops. This kind of blew my mind. Craigslist is the obvious answer for most, but it seems rather hit or miss if...

    Most Interesting Brew Day

Learning moment here... What causes such an undershoot? My first batch came in 22 pts low. I boiled 3 gal instead of 2 based upon the recipe I had. I also think I have less than 5 gallons fermenting right now. Any words of wisdom? Its an amber, extract with white labs Irish Yeast. It also took...

I'm in the same boat. The wort looks flat. No airlock action. We're at 12 hrs and this is my first batch (white labs Irish yeast). What time IS panic time? Sent from my SCH-I545 using Home Brew mobile app

    Thermometers for bayou classic pots

I have a 44 at pot. Started my initial brew... And apparently 3 gallons cooking is a bit shallow... Before I head up to 10 gallon batches, where can I find a thermometer long enough? I'm a baller on a budget for now. The finance department is watching my purchases closely this month :/ Sent...

    Initial brew...gravity question.

I still had sanitizer and got another reading before the yeast really took off. Water tested at 1.000, the wort is reading 1.027. The hydrometer is calibrated at 60. The temp is sitting at 68. Can someone explain that chart? Brix and SG? I know specific gravity but how does that correct og? .4...
