    Vanilla maple stout

Thx we are really excited about it. We have also been hearing rumors of using pure sap in place of water which we may try on the next go around.

all grain brews keep coming out with the same bitter taste...

Sterilization is one of the best habits to have but, over sterilizing can produce a bitter chemical taste also. Try just washing with HOT, soapy water (using a good antibacterial dish soap that isunscented), a cap of bleach and rinsing REALLY well. Dry. Use star San to spray on and let dry...

    Vanilla maple stout

We are brewing a vanilla maple oatmeal stout, and its still in the boil phase, but I was curious about adding pure maple syrup to either a cold crashed secondary, or carbonating with it. How much maple syrup should I use for a 5 gallon batch to carb? If I cold crash, is there a way to do so...

    Coconut milk stout

As a chef, I have found myself trying to incorporate food into the homebrewing hobby of my girlfriend and I. We are currently brewing a vanilla maple oatmeal stout as we speak, which got me researching other stouts. We started drinking a locally brewed milk stout that is delicious and I...

    Hypothetical marijuana homebrew

I'm from a state where medicinal marijuana is legal. despite any legal debates or personal preference you may have, I would appreciate a straightforward answer. could I dry hop a homebrew with medicinal marijuana, to give a combined effect of both the alcohol and marijuana?

    Vanilla maple stout

I like the cold crash secondary, and I was thinking about priming with maple as well if its a fermentable sugar, just no additional yeast. Maybe 1/2 -2/3 of a cup for 5 gallons

    Vanilla maple stout

I've been a chef for 15 years and have been brewing with my girlfriend for a much shorter period of time now. However I am intrigued by the idea of incorporating the culinary ingredients I am so familiar with into brewing. We decided on a stout with flaked barley to enhance the creaminess with...

    Bottled IPA

Thx....I tasted one today just so I could understand more of th process, and it dint seem carbonated at all, and the taste wasn't as good either. I am keeping them in brown bottles in the darkness of my fermenting room at 68*ish.

    Bottled IPA

I am pretty new to HBing, and I recently bottled my first all grain IPA, which tasted phenomenal before priming and bottling on 11/29/13. I know it's not ready yet, but I was wondering approximately ho long till the bottles will be carbonated and fully matured? I used 3/4 cup dextrose mixed...

    Batch sparging

I'm pretty new to homebrewing, and I am trying to finesse different techniques with the equipment I've got, right now I'm interested in batch sparging. I've never tried it before, and would like to learn how and what the benefits are. I am using a simple cooler setup for my lauter tun. Any...

Boiled sam addams bottles with label on, should i worry?

I soak them overnight in a heavily diluted ammonia and water solution to ease removing the labels. Then I wash them with either a bottle washer or in my dishwasher, then sanitize them. I know it's two days, but you aren't boiling to weaken the glass, and its so easy to get the labels off.
