    Sour IPA(

I’ve kettle soured before, but I wanted to go the barrel route. I get that hops will kill the lacto. I guess that maybe what I’m looking for isn’t a funky IPA per-se. What I think I’ll do is make a barrel aged saison - and then dry hop with Nelson, before Kegging. I’ve tried something similar...

    Sour IPA(

Looking for some tips on brewing a barrel aged sour IPA. Could I use a regular IPA recipe, holding back on the dry hops. Start fermenting with ale yeast, transfer to barrel and finish with Brett? Then dry hop late, after a few months? Cheers Leigh

    Berlinerweisse water volume help...

Thanks for the reply. I use the Grainfather system for brewing (and think it should be good to control the temp for kettle souring). The equation I use for brewing usually serves me well, but I've never done such a short boil before.. MASH = (GWx0.34) + 0.9 SPARGE = (7.4-MASH) + (GWx0.1) I’ll...

    Berlinerweisse water volume help...

I’m planning on doing my first kettle soured Berlinerweisse. I have a load of fruit and want to throw something in the secondary (maybe mulberries or pomegranate). I’ve been loving a local brewery’s weisse with fruit, here in San Diego - Wild Barrel’s California Vice. And I’m looking to do...

    Dry Hopping and Cold Crashing

Cheers for the input guys, yeah this is a really hoppy southern-hemi rye IPA (3.5oz Galaxy and 2.5oz Southern cross, in the dry hop for a 5Gallon batch) All experimental - but my reason for cold crashing 1st was so that the hop resins don't attach to the yeast and proteins in suspension, and...

    Grainfather Vs?

I remember seeing a comparison somewhere - can't direct you to it tho. I have the Grainfather and I'm really happy with it - let me know if you have any questions Cheers

    Dry Hopping and Cold Crashing

I've been thinking about dry hopping and cold crashing. I usually dry hop after 21 days, for 5-7 days, then cold crash for a week, then keg, force carb, and drink. But I've been thinking about cold crashing, then dry-hopping, but read about pros and cons of this, so I had an instictive idea...

    Bog Myrtle instead of Hops

I know this is an old thread - but I'd be interested in seeing your recipe if you don't mind sharing. I'm just drying a load of Bog Myrtle I just picked. I wanted to try a gruit ale and I have been looking unsuccessfully for wild/marsh rosemary - but can't find in the wild or dried. So I'm...

    Goose Island IPA Clone

Thanks for the input - all great information! I'm actually fairly new to brewing and still using DME (moving to the States in a year - so waiting 'till I get there to invest in new equipment) I've had good results with the Sierra Nevada clone recipe on here - but always felt like it...

    Goose Island IPA Clone

Hi - I know this post is from over a year ago - but I'm looking for a Goose IPA recipe, did you ever brew it? If so how did it turn out? Cheers Leigh
