    Weird noob questions

If I had to guess I would say it was in the 50s or 40s. I'm in ontario canada and it's been brutally cold. Minus 20 without windchill. The house is set at 68 but some rooms are warmer than others. I think I might add a gallon of water now and see what it does. I could very well have forgotten...

    Weird noob questions

I'm on only my third batch of extract brewing. The first one went so well but I haven't gotten it right since. The second batch was my fault, leaving it in the primary for 6 weeks because I was moving and didn't have time. This batch is really puzzling me. I started brewing in an apartment but...

    First time rehydrating yeast

....and as quickly as the bubbling started, it's ended. What the heck is going on in there?

    First time rehydrating yeast

The activity in the airlock had stopped (it wasn't much to begin with). So I opened the primary today to look. There was small spotting of krausen all over but that's it. So I dry added the kit yeast, put the lid back on and the airlock started bubbling like mad. My whole apartment smells like...

    First time rehydrating yeast

I didn't microwave the yeast, I just timed it wrong. I thought 00:15 was 15 seconds like on a microwave clock. But they meant 00:15 as 15 minutes. I own a microwave but use it less than once a month.

    First time rehydrating yeast

Hey guys. This is my second brew. I wanted to get a touch more creative than the first (all kit) so I used coopers wheat beer kit, Bavarian wheat DME, dextrose, and danstar Munich yeast. I know I screwed this recipe up at almost every step. I got flustered and lost focus and started rushing and...

    Bottling

I'm doing my first ever batch. Reading everything here is worrying me. Honestly I didn't read up on priming. I added my dextrose (powder) straight to the fermented beer in the carboy, stirred it until I guessed it was dissolved (30+ seconds, a few times) thens siphoned it directly into bottles...

    Star san safe?

I know not to fear the foam, but when I sanitized all my equipment before transferring from primary to secondary there was still small amounts of star san liquid in the carboy and tubing and auto siphon. Will that kill the yeast or effect the beer in anyway?

    High copper levels

Im definitely going with bottled water from now on. Old pipes? The city put new pipes in the street and that's when I noticed the colour change. Well really I only noticed the colour change when filling my primary bucket for sanitation that I couldn't rinse the blue out of it. I am only on my...

    High copper levels

Hey guys I noticed recently that my tap water has high copper levels due to new pipes. It's so high that my cold water has a green/blue tint and hot water is blue. How is this going to effect my beer?

    First batch question

I transferred it to the secondary today and sampled my hydrometer reading. It tasted very light to start and finished bitter. It's still cloudy so it will be in secondary for awhile. Will this develop a stronger starting flavour and weaker bitter finish?

    First batch question

I can't tell. My helpful fiancé threw everything out. I've tried to find it online but couldn't.

    First batch question

Hey guys. I just bought all my supplies and my first batch last week. I got the Coopers Canadian blonde to start off easy. The lady in the brew store said add the kit, 1kg of dextrose, and kit yeast to the pail and ferment. I picked up another 200g of dextrose for priming and bottling. After...
