Blonde Ale Centennial Blonde (Simple 4% All Grain, 5 & 10 Gall)

Just brewed a small (2 gallon) batch of this. Testing out the new Gigawort-->SS Brewtech--Torpedo keg "apartment brewing solution" with a beer that I loved to make back when I had more space. Only got to 1.037 OG but accidentally mashed at 154-56 for the first ten minutes of the mash, so I'm...

Advice on new Setup (esp. using Kitchen Fridge for Keg)?

Right on, I'll try that option for sure. Thank you. Thanks SO much for that CO2 tank info. I will work on the PTB, that quote is gold, ha ha! SUPER helpful, thanks! I will definitely use one of these tanks in my setup, looks like it could carb and push out at least 5 or 6 of these little...

Advice on new Setup (esp. using Kitchen Fridge for Keg)?

Hi all, I've relocated to a small NYC apartment and I need to start brewing again. The #1 restriction, imposed by the Powers That Be, is: no more fridges. The #2 restriction, imposed by me, is: no bottling. So here's my all-grain, 1.75 gallon batch, BIAB plan: - 4.4gal Gigawort Electric Brew...

Rhode Island 5 lb CO2 Tank with Taprite Dual-Gauge Regulator

Bought this setup new for $110, and it's in great working condition. Connector is pin-lock. Tank is 75% full. Looking to sell it all for $75. Unable to ship, has to be picked up in Providence, RI.

German Pils Gavin's Glorious German Pilsner

Just a vote for this one, it's a hell of a recipe. Crisp as you like it. I will say, having made it twice, I seriously recommend WLP 830/833 over Saflager 34/70... the latter just doesn't deliver that up-front crisp lager character.

After Bottling My Beer tastes sweet (yuck)

I've done probably 100-150 bottles with sugar drops, no duds. It's hard to see how it could fail unless you're cold crashing/lagering for 3-4 months and dropping all the available yeast out. In any case, I'll take the occasional dud over this horrible sickly-sweet thing that still haunts my...

After Bottling My Beer tastes sweet (yuck)

I had this issue using US-05 and WLP 001. thiazzi are you measuring final gravity? This particular issue happens when you hit your expected final gravity and still discover an annoying sweet-ish cloying aroma. Your beer might just be under-attenuating. If not, my bottling solution involved...

    Northern Brewer Replacement

Another vote for ritebrew.com. Shipping is great, quality is 100%, prices are the best I've been able to find, he'll double-mill for you, and most importantly, he does grains by the ounce. I got so sick of using bigger places and having to buy 1 lb of chocolate malt for a 5 oz addition.

HELP! Did I screw up my first cider?

Nice! Backsweetening is tough, make sure you read up on it. And I don't know how full that carboy is, but since your yeast are basically done fermenting they won't be making any CO2 to push the O2 out, so make sure the carboy is as full as it can be. The less O2 in the carboy, the less chance...

HELP! Did I screw up my first cider?

Yeah, as other posters have said, you might have hit on some good cider-making juice. The #1 complaint about homemade cider is that it is too dry, harsh and tart, even after extended aging, and this was a sign that the juice you were using was low enough in nutrients to allow the cider to stop...

Mikkeller - American Dream Lager ?

Thanks Giraffe, I might give that a go. I don't see anywhere in the description about a tart or tangy aroma with MFB, but it might be part of the solution.

Mikkeller - American Dream Lager ?

So the first clone wasn't a great success, though the beer was. Here's a blurry photo, mine on the left, Mikkeller on the right: The American Dream is not only redder, but it has a distinct tart/tangy aroma (not sweet) that the simple Pilsner Malt+Saflager34 combination couldn't emulate...

Lager newbie here, need advice on general protocol

I just finished my first lager and it's probably the best beer I've done yet. Following some advice on Brulosophy, I fermented at 61F ambient and did the 3 day D-rest at 65, then slowly ramped down to 35F over 10 days before kegging. Gotta say, even though it was a "high" lager ferment at 61F...

Mikkeller - American Dream Lager ?

So, I put together the following recipe and just kegged it. Preliminary tasting results are very positive, though I don't think it counts as a clone yet. I absolutely NAILED the OG and FG, attenuation and ABV are spot-on, and there's obviously lots of lemony USA-hop aroma from the Citra. We...

Mikkeller - American Dream Lager ?

Thanks MS, I'm afraid it isn't. But I think it should be too hard to get close, at least by making a standard Pilsener Lager and cranking up the USA hops. I'm trying a recipe now and will update on the results.

Mikkeller - American Dream Lager ?

Right on, thanks Pappers. I might try those carafa grains, though it's always baffled me as to why anyone would want darker color just for the sake of it.

Mikkeller - American Dream Lager ?

This is honestly one of my favorite beers of all time, if you haven't had it, do yourself a favor and pick one up. Crisp as all hell, gorgeous lemony aroma and thirst-quenching hop bitterness. Anyone have any thoughts on a clone recipe? Here's what I've got so far: -Measured FG 1.010, ABV...
