    Lemongrass Wheat Beer?

Thanks much! I had actually thought about adding some ginger to the mix, too -- how did that turn out elsphinc? Would you brew it again?

    Lemongrass Wheat Beer?

OK, so I'm going to take a crack at a Lemongrass Wheat Beer. Basically just going to use a NB wheat kit (this one, in particular) and fancy it up a bit. Question is this: at what point should I add the lemongrass, and how should I use it? I was thinking of cutting the stalks into 1-2" pieces...

    Bad Frog Beer Recipe?

I remember trying a beer in Michigan many years ago called "Bad Frog Beer." I ran a search on here for the term, and the posts that reference it do not offer particularly glowing reviews. Indeed, I enjoyed it at the time, but I was also in college, so I probably would have enjoyed anything...

    Butterbeer (yes, of HP fame)

I'd just like to point out that it is extremely appropriate that you used "Fuggle" hops. I think of Harry Potter's muggles every time I see it.

    Caramelize Pumpkin Day Before?

Just did a smoked pumpkin ale on Monday where I smoked the pumpkin on Sunday night and just put it in a large ziplock bag, and it worked fine. I think you should be OK as long as you treat it like any other cooked food and store it properly.

    Grain storage and freshness

Somewhat new to the brewing hobby, have done a few extract/specialty grain batches so far and contemplating just moving on to all grain, since that's the ultimate goal anyway. Part of the incentive would be to be able to just buy a bunch of the base malts in bulk to have on hand, save on cost...

    OG Lower than expected

Ok, thanks. Is this as easy as stirring the wort prior to sampling?

    OG Lower than expected

Just finished brewing our second batch of beer over the weekend, a stout. We are using a Brewer's Best kit, which uses steeped grains and DME/LME. For the second time, the OG was less than the range we were shooting for per the instructions. Even prior to filling to 5 gallons, we were at...

    Sanitation Strategies

OK, kinda new to this whole homebrewing thing, got our first batch into bottles, although I'm pretty sure there are plenty of things we could have done better, particularly from a sanitation standpoint. I'm frankly hearing a lot of conflicting info on how something should be sanitized, how long...

    Bottling Equipment

Bought a kit a bit ago, and have our first brew hanging out in the fermenter as we speak. We'll be bottling about a week from now, but having played around with the bottling equipment that came with the kit (which is basically a siphon), I'm pretty sure we're going to want to go in a different...

    Why isnt my beer fermenting?

We actually had this exact same problem with our very first attempt. Brewed a week ago yesterday, basically zero airlock activity. Went ahead and took an SG reading yesterday, and sure enough, it had dropped.

    Hey from St. Louis

Hi all, just joined up today. Some neighbors and I took a late-night idea to start brewing our own beer from the drunken musings of morons to reality when we went in on some homebrew equipment recently. Got our first batch, an IPA, hanging out in the fermenter right now, pretty psyched to see...
