    Peanut butter stout?

I believe the company is called Infamous out of Austin TX. They make a peanut butter stout that I love. I'd like to clone it or come up with something close. I'm currently cultivating yeast from a bottle of it. Anybody have a recipe or link to something similar?

Old LME kit and a couple of mistakes

I've been out of brewing for quite a while now. And was a newbie before I fell out of the hobby. I bought an English Brown Ale LME kit over a year ago and had it stored in the closet. Decided to brew it tonight. The kit included a Nottingham dry yeast pack and I decided to make a starter...

    Next step?

I am doing a chocolate raspberry wine I hope will be done by Christmas. I started with a Burgundy grape and chocolate must and fermented out. I'm not sure of the current specific gravity, but it was in primary for about a week and in secondary for about 3 weeks. I'm sure its done fermenting. I...

No head in glass after bottling from keg

I brewed a Brewers Best LME Milk Stout kit. I kegged it and when I pour from keg tap I get plenty of head. I bottled some from the keg and when I pour a glass from the bottle there is no head whatsoever. Where did I go wrong? The bottled stuff is carbonated just no head.

    Strange (possibly terrible) idea

Just saw a video on you tube about a kit that makes "prohibition whiskey" (its a whiskey flavored alcoholic beverage.) Basically its fermented sugar water and then cleared with liquid charcoal and other fining agents and at the end, whiskey flavor is added. This got me thinking. I don't have...

    Bud Light Clone?

J/K. Just thought I'd rile a few guys tonight. My real questions is how long can I store a harvested yeast? And would I need to make a starter with a harvested yeast? Starters and harvesting are all new to me and I've been watching a lot of vids on YouTube but haven't seen the answer to those...

    forgot to aerate wort.

I rehydrated and pitched yeast Sunday at noonish. Here it is Monday at 4:00 pm and realized I forgot to aerate. Fermentation temp is about 58 degrees. I pitched at 68 degrees. There is no activity in air lock. Is it too late to aerate?

    Which hops to boil first?

I bought a LME kit from the LHBS. Its a milk stout. This store builds their own kits and must have forgot to throw in an instruction sheet. This is my 3rd kit so I know the process. I just need to know which hops to throw in at the beggining of the boil and which to throw in at the end of the...

    Cocoa color?

I just started an experimental batch of chocolate raspberry wine. I came up with the recipe based on the chocolate strawberry recipe I found on this forum. Anyway, the recipe calls for cocoa powder which, of course, made the must a chocolate color. Will that color drop out and leave the red...

    Experimental Recipe

SWMBO requested a chocolate raspberry sweet red wine. I bought a 4 lb can of Alexander's Premium Burgundy grape concentrate and a 3 lb can of Vintners Harvest red raspberry puree. Also I have some Ghirardelli sweet ground cocoa. (Ingredients: Sugar, cocoa processed with alkali, unsweetened...

    Possible Contamination

I started my latest brew today. Everything was cleaned, sanitized, and laid out. I try to stay organized and tidy to prevent mishaps. Everything went great until the end. I just pitched the yeast and was about to put the lid on, but my 3 year old said he wanted to look at it first. As soon as he...

    Beer Kit Help

I bought a Milk Stout 5gal kit (LME) and plan on brewing tomorrow. I wanted to make a Vanilla Oatmeal Stout. Is it possible to just add oatmeal to the grain bag? Or would that ruin it? If possible, what kind of oatmeal? And how much?

    First Beer Success!!

My first beer is complete. Peanut Butter Brown Ale. I went ahead and bought a keg setup so its on tap. Definitely brewing this one again. I only made 3 gal and wish I had made more. I just wanted to taste it and I've already had 3 glasses lol. I think the next brew will be a sweet oatmeal stout...

    Holiday apple wine ideas?

I have a bunch of bottles of Ed Worts Apfelwein. I want to make a spiced cider/wassle with it. My wine is fermented out dry and not back sweetened. I plan on using about 4 bottles. Anybody have some good recipes or links to some good ones? I tried making some from the pre packaged wassle spice...

    ball lock fittings

Just ordered an extra set of ball lock disconnects and when it came in, the package said "LIQUID IN" & "GAS OUT". I was wondering does it make a difference? I figured the direction of flow wouldn't matter. If it does make a difference, what is the purpose of this type of fittings?

    CO2 pricing question

I was just curious. What would be the minimum amount of equipment I would need to Carb my beer with CO2? What would be a rough estimate of cost for the equipment? I'm brewing my first beer and I'm going to bottle Carb this batch, but the future brews I think I would like to do in a keg.

    Splenda for back sweetening

I started brewing a 6gal. Batch of Ed Worts Apfelwein, and its been aging for about 6 months. I like my wine to be sweet, and have decided to use Splenda for back sweetening. My question is how much Splenda?

    Corks backing out

I just bottled my first wine yesterday. And I used synthetic corks that came with my equipment kit. I soaked them all in a starsan solution before corking, but I didn't dry them before corking. I think maybe the excess starsan is acting like a lubricant and allowing the corks to back out over...

    Need advice on filtering

I'm currently brewing a 3 gallon cru select chocolate orange port kit. This weekend it will be time to bottle. The instructions recommend filtering before bottling to prevent renewed fermentation. Is this absolutely necessary? SWMBO has put a stop to my equipment purchases for the time being...

    Peanut Butter Ale questions

I went to my LHBS and they had a Peanut Butter Brown Ale on tap. I've never been much of a beer drinker. I haven't found one that I like. Until now, that is. I just recently got into wine brewing. I have 4 different wines going (including 1 kit wine) and none are bottled yet. So I'm pretty new...
