Altbier Norther German Altbier (Best In Show)

Followed the grain and hop bill, but used US-05 instead of WLP029 because they didn't have any at the homebrew shop, turned out really good after 2 weeks of fermentation and 2 weeks in bottle. This recipe is a keeper.

    I like to parti, parti-gyle

I agree on the twice the beer 1.25 effort and cost. I did a strong golden Belgian ale and a pilsner (ale) last year, and the brewing process went very well. To be honest the pilsner turned out to be one of my best beers, the Belgian ale is ok, I am hoping it gets better with age. I just posted...

Parti-gyle - Maibock and American Honey Wheat

So I want to try to brew two beers with one brew day. I want to brew a maibock (ale) and make some mash adjustments for a American Honey Wheat, but wanted to get some confirmation that I am on the right track. Both recipes 5.5 gallons MaiAle (Maibock) Mash #1 / Boil #1 6.0 lb Vienna (DE)...

    secondary fermentation

The difference between primary and secondary (in carboy) sediment is surprising (at least in my setup). It might not be for everyone, but it has helped the amount of sediment that makes it in the bottle and clarity.

    Pine in beer?

I just seen this the other night on tv (http://beergeeks.tv/episode-guide/season-1/episode-3/) where they use juniper branches and they basically steeped the branches. They had a bundle of them for a large batch, not sure how to scale it. He hinted it had a very strong "tree" taste. Thought...

    secondary fermentation

This I typically use the secondary (carboy) to get a clearer beer (because when I bottled, it seems like I stir up the sediment) and to make room in my primary bucket.

Irish Red Ale "Drunken Lullaby" Irish Red

Sadly, I still have some bottles left over from last year, however they do keep getting better with age.

    Did I kill my yeast??

I haven't done this myself, but my guess is you killed some of them, but not all of them. Even with healthy yeast, it can take 48-72 hours to show airlock activity. I would wait it out until 72 hours, if no activity, then add the other packet.

Don't boil more then 5 minutes, you will lose all the flavor.

American Amber Ale American Amber/Wheat/Blonde Ale

I used this recipe as a base, ended up doing a partial mash of it, but added lemon/orange zest to the secondary, by far the best beer I have made to date. Everyone loves it, need to start another one!
