    Input on Black IPA recipe

So Im brewing a black IPA or Hoppy porter, or RIS, whatever you want to call it. But heres what I've come up with. Where I'm looking for the most input is on my hop schedule. I feel I may have gone overboard with 10 oz. of hops, but I want it to be roasty and very hoppy, so please give me some...

    Dark vs Light LME

I've seen a couple answers about this, but my question is, I'm brewing an Imperial Stout. Most recipes call for Light Extract, but I have some extra Dark extract. Why not use it? Especially in an Imperial Stout. Does it have to do with fermentables?

    Headed to Chicago...

Me and 3 fellow beer lovers (actually 2 1/2) are heading to three Floyd's, Bells, and Founders for a Midwest brew tour. We have one day where well be in Chicago most of the day. I have been playing with the recipe calculator on brewgr.com. This is what I've come up with. Just looking for any suggestions, or ideas on how this might...

    Pitch more yeast?

I brewed my True Brew Porter extract kit on 1-1-13. I posted in another thread about my 85 degree yeast pitch (too high I know). Anyways, my OG was 1.044, and I had excellent activity within 24 hours. But since then, no visible signs of fermentation, and I've been at 1.020 for over a week now...

    Pitch too warm?

I just brewed a Porter on Jan 1, and this being my 4th batch took waaaaaaay longer to cool. Almost 2 hours of waiting for wort to drop, using ice baths. Anyways, I had to leave for the evening, so instead of leaving the wort to sit, I figured I was better off pitching the yeast which at this...

    Too soon to Bottle?

I brewed an Irish Stout from an extract kit on 12-7-12. It began fementing the next morning, and was a very short "bubbling" time. Haven't seen any action for 16 days. I was gonna go with a 3 week primary fermentation time, then straight to bottle, but I'm kinda anxious to bottle tomorrow...

    Oops!

I can't believe I did it, but I added the DME into the muslin bag with the grains and steeped for 20 minutes. It's been a while since I brewed, I can't believe I did this. Is this gonna be a big deal in the end?
