Anyone know what this bottle washer is called?

I don't know the brands, but are you sure they're for brewing? I wouldn't think wire brushes would be a good idea. Plus, I think the first tool is a paint mixer. I have one that looks just like that, but blue.

    SS Brewtech Brew Bucket Info

All, I figured I'd post the info I've figured out here for anyone interested, instead of in the separate forums where I asked the original questions: 1. I ordered the "uxcell Silicone O-Ring, 22mm OD, 16mm ID, 3mm Width, VMQ Seal Rings Gasket, Red, Pack of 10" from Amazon to see if they worked...

    Volume for Priming Sugar

yeah, I've done it to several of my brew pots. I didn't mean to imply I would use the dremel on the Brew Bucket. I saw a youtube video where a guy used magnets to mark the water level prior to etching. I'm going to try that one, too. I also account for the losses in BeerSmith.

    Volume for Priming Sugar

That's a great idea. I'll have to work that out. I need to do some etching on the inside anyway. I think the min marking on it is 4 gallons, but I like to do half batches when I do wheat beers. I don't tend to drink them fast enough before they start going stale. For brewing, I took an...

    Volume for Priming Sugar

Yes, the Brew Bucket. But I've only done a couple of half batches in them so far, so I don't know how much the yeast/trub layer will cover the level of the port, if at all, in a full batch.

    Volume for Priming Sugar

To answer a few questions: 1. I own an SS Brewtech. It has no yeast dumping port. 2. I go between 2.5 and 5 gallon batches, so the yeast/trub layer will be different per style and per amount. 3. I never put the math to it to see there wasn't that much difference between a half gallon with...

    Volume for Priming Sugar

I figured that would be the answer I got. I guess getting the volume in the bottling bucket is the best way then. My next batch is getting kegged. So that will be easier anyway. Thanks guys.

    Volume for Priming Sugar

Hi all, I'm trying to come up with a good way to figure out the volume of the beer in the SS Brewtech before I transfer it to the bottling bucket. That way I can measure the sugar and add it to the bottling bucket before transferring. I feel it mixes up better that way, instead of waiting...

    Beersmith Efficiencies

oh, ok. I thought I might have violated some rule I wasn't aware of. Maybe posting the recipe or something.

    Beersmith Efficiencies

see if this works. the yellow fields were not changed, so those aren't my numbers. also, I don't use BeerSmith ph info. I don't find it to be accurate.

    Beersmith Efficiencies

I attached an older brew I did. I think I marked everything down properly with this one. The recent ones, I messed around with the numbers trying to figure out the issues, so I don't really remember what was accurate and don't want to cause confusion. This was one of my first Grainfather...

    Beersmith Efficiencies

Let me explain better what I mean: When I'm building the recipe in BeerSmith, I change the BH efficiency to get 85% mash efficiency so that it calculates my grain bill for the given target gravity. That in turn, provides me with the mash and sparge water volumes. During the brew, I am very...

    SS Brewtech Brewbucket O-Ring

that's what they say, but I tried it, and it scratched up the inside of the fermenter with only light hand tightening. Thanks for info, BTW.

    Beersmith Efficiencies

All, I've been scratching my head over this one, but I can't figure it out. Maybe I'm using BeerSmith wrong. I have a Grainfather, and since I've had a brewing hiatus, I'm brewing smaller batches (2.8 gallon into fermenter) so that if I mess anything up, it won't be as big a loss. I've been...

    SS Brewtech Brewbucket O-Ring

Which did you get, and are they food safe?

    SS Brewtech Brewbucket O-Ring

Yep. I filled it up past the thermowell with water and let it sit overnight. Since it didn't leak, I proceeded to sanitize it without moving the parts and put the wort in. No leaks so far, but I had to play with it to get the seals right in the first place.
  17. I

    SS Brewtech Brewbucket O-Ring

All, I've got two brewbuckets with the thermowell and valve holes. I've noticed that the O-Rings just BARELY surround the holes. If you don't get it placed just right, it could leak. I've been trying to find another food safe o-ring that is wider (thicker) than the ones provided, but I've not...

    Best methods to clean bottles.

I go overboard a bit. But I don't want all my efforts to be ruined by dirty bottles. Here's what I do. 1. Immediate rinse of bottles after use. Place in book crate in kitchen to await cleaning. 2. Once I get 50 or so bottles, I mix up a hot batch of PBW and fill the bottles with my...

    Saison with Safbrew T58

I've brewed a saison with Belle Saison. It turned out well. But I haven't compared it to liquid yeast. I generally concur, though, that liquid yeasts result in superior flavor, in my experience.
