Funny things you've overheard about beer

Heard a real doozy a couple weekends ago, after ordering a nice craft Tripel (9% abv): "That beer is awesome! But be careful, it's like drinking a whole bottle of Cabernet..." The glass was maybe 16 ounces. SMH

    SoCal beer bars and stores!

Hello SoCal: I'll be in irvine next week for a work trip, and would love to look up some rare or otherwise awesome beer while there. Anyone have any suggestions where I should check out? Pliny is probably out of the question, but any tips would be great. Thanks folks.

    Simcoe Amarillo Citra Pale

Wow! Other than this brew being VERY dry (1.006/7 fg), it is quite delicious!

American Pale Ale Three Floyds Zombie Dust Clone

That makes me tear up a little...

    Three Floyds in Southern Indiana

I check party source regularly. I've had decent luck with large formats (found Arctic Panzer Wolf, Dreadnaught, Blackheart, and Apocalypse Cow there), but I'm really hoping to find some sixers. Really, ZD is a dream, but I'm hoping Gumballhead 6-packs can be a relatively staple beer in my...

    Three Floyds in Southern Indiana

Thanks! Been here since January. It's been good so far. I have had the opportunity to drink 3 floyds on tap - ZD, AK, GBH, pride and joy... But I'd like to pick up some bottles. Since I have to go to indiana, I assume it's easier to find. Maybe I'm wrong!

    Three Floyds in Southern Indiana

Well, I'm actually living in Cincinnati... Still haven't updated that. Really I'm just wondering if anyone knows of nice little shops in Milan/Osgood/Lawrenceburg to check. Thanks though. I don't know why I never took a trip to FFF living in GR. Oh wait.... Founders was just easier. Ha

    Three Floyds in Southern Indiana

So I've recently been informed that my work will be requiring me to travel to Southern Indiana (Milan and Osgood, slightly west of Lawrenceburg). I'm looking to capitalize on this fact by purchasing some FFF beers while I am there. Does anyone from the area have good suggestions of beer...

    Simcoe Amarillo Citra Pale

Yea, I'm going to stick with this dry hop mix. All 3 ounces. Side note: I had to use amalyse enzyme last night, as it hadn't moved from 1.024. Eeeeesh.

    Simcoe Amarillo Citra Pale

Well, had to throw some amalyse enzyme at this brew tonight. Hope it works. It was stuck at 1.024 : (

    Simcoe Amarillo Citra Pale

May do that. I have to hope that it dries out enough first though. If it ends at 1.020 I may have to do something creative/fixy... A la Brett or amalyse enzyme.

    Simcoe Amarillo Citra Pale

Well, it's at 1.028 now, 3.5 days after pitching. Not sure if that's on track or not, but I'm a bit worried. It's got a lot of gunk in the sample, so I'm going to let it sit over night and take a reading with a bit clearer sample. Fingers crossed...

    Simcoe Amarillo Citra Pale

Well, I swapped out the 1/4oz of simcoe from a 60-minute to a FWH, but all else remained the same. I jacked up the mash temp (about 165 for 20 minutes) thanks to a hard to read thermometer, but then brought the temp down to about 145 for 40 minites. Aye aye aye. Either way, it smelled...

Odd Side Ales Citra Pale Ale

Hmm... it tastes good, but you seriously have to pour it safely because it's really yeasty and weird if you aren't careful.

Odd Side Ales Citra Pale Ale

Picked up a case while in Michigan over the weekend. $48 but well worth it. I do have to say, though, that while yeast and gunk don't bother me in a Belgian ale, in a pale, not my friend. I mention this because there is a ton of sediment in these bottles. Make sure you refrigerate these...
