    Bag hoist/hanging...any pics?

I wanted my rig to be mobile since we can brew outdoors all year in Nor Cal so this is what I cobbled together. The support is a shelf bracket U bolted to a stove leg that is anchored to the base, all stuff from garage sales or second hand stores except the pulley which was $10 from Lowes...

    10 gallon paint strainers?

Morebeer has HUGE grain bags (29x29) for $5.50. There is a thread discussing them under equipment and sanitization. I use one in a 15 gal kettle and it fits perfectly. Plenty strong for any 5 gal batch.

Best way to aerate wort just prior to pitching yeast

Disposable oxygen canisters from Lowes or HD go for around $7. I use a regulator from Williams (best price I've found) and a SS stone from my LHBS. No HEPA filter and no problem with infection provided you sanitize everything and boil the stone to clean it. I get around 6 batches per tank. There...

    BIAB Equipment Considerations

Go for the chiller. Much easier than preparing an ice bath and then lifting a hot, heavy kettle and moving it without sloshing. I did it that way for a while but only with 2.5 gal BIAB batches. My immersion chiller makes life a lot easier, especially for larger batches.

15 gallon pot - Concord vs Bayou Classic

Thanks for all the great info. I'll be going with the 15 gal Concord and some weldless fittings from Brew Hardware. After that a larger chiller... then maybe a pump... and a conical.

15 gallon pot - Concord vs Bayou Classic

I'm getting ready to make this exact decision. What is the shipping time like on the Concord kettles? I know Amazon can get a BC to me in a couple of days but that is probably not worth an extra $15 unless we are talking about weeks on the Concord.

BIAB brew stand with hoist and pump

I too am eagerly awaiting the first brew report! This design has so much potential. All in one BIAB with a small footprint. It looks like something that could be fabricated for a reasonable price. There's a guy on the Aussie Homebrewer site that is doing something similar but it doesn't look...

    Best Grain Mill??

I opted for the Crankenstein 2s on sale at Brewmasters Warehouse. Built a bucket top and hopper combo for under $10. Factory gap setting is .045 and I find that double milling works best for my small batch BIAB. Great efficiency and I can finish 7 lbs in less than 10 minutes from taking it off...

    Took the plunge...Better Bottles

Oxy or PBW should work well but if you go to the Better Bottle website they have a huge study on cleaning and sanitizing and they recommend using Seventh Generation Free and Clear 2X for the best long term results. I'm using it on my BB's and it works great but I've not had a real crusty mess...

    RDWHAHB Moment...

RDWHAHB= Relax Don't Worry Have A Home Brew. It's the mantra from Charlie Papazian's classic The Complete Joy of Home Brewing. Good advice under just about any circumstances.

    RDWHAHB Moment...

Did my first AG BIAB brew this week too and I had the same vision of going ahead and dumping the grist in the pot without the bag so I added a line to my checklist and made sure I put the bag on top of the milled grain in the bucket. Love the BIAB process. I'm doing 2.5 gallon batches which took...
