Have I become a beer snob?

IMO if you don't like a company based on it's business practice you shouldn't consume their product. However, I have a total disdain of the word "craft" in that it has no real definition. I can understand how it has a place in legal terms but it is not a parameter I consider when choosing a beer.

Why does all Samuel Adams Beer Taste Bad?

Seems like this thread or one exactly like it gets started again every 6 months.

    Insurance Company Forbids Homebrewing!?

My insurance policy doesn't allow pit bulls...although disappointed I don't take that as them being forbidden, only that they are not covered under the policy and therefore at your own risk. Is that wrong?

Anheuser-Busch InBev Acquires Northern Brewer & Midwest Supplies

Don't know what the big deal is...NB got sold to big money a couple years ago. People just starting to notice now because it is the big bad wolf AB-Inbev. NB lost their soul to me when Chip, Keeler, and Dawson got pushed out with the last buyout.

Anheuser-Busch InBev Acquires Northern Brewer & Midwest Supplies

No, I don't think that it is. They had a massive barrel expansion, props to them for not pasteurizing.

    brown sugar to an ipa?

I definitely wouldn't say that it is "uncouth", but there may be better options if you are going just for color. Brown sugar will add to your OG and help dry the beer out. It will certainly impart a differant flavor than if you added crystal malt or some other dark malt.

Tincture vs. Boil for White IPA orange peel

The benefit to doing a tincture is that you can add as much as you need to taste. Just take a measured amount of pre-bottled beer and use a dropper until you hit the desired taste. You can then scale up to your batch size.

anything wrong with putting fruit in primary?

Edit, didn't read the OP fully. Totally agree, secondaries are dumb...I would just wait to the fermentation died down.

    Budweiser is changing it's name

They would have to hire a 4th frog.

Sanitation when adding gelatin to kegged beer

I don't think the gelatin knows if you cooled the water after boiling. I'm guessing those people added it too hot. I thought the point of heating it to 150 is only to dissolve the gelatin.

I don't want to open a brewery (and maybe you shouldn't either)

This goes without saying for any entrepreneurial venture.

    Chest Freezer can't get cold!

If the compressor runs and it doesn't get cold then it sounds like you are out of refrigerant.

BrewDog Brewing releases entire recipe catalog

Not saying there aren't other breweries that have been very kind about sharing recipes but nobody has done this...no other brewery has taken the time to prepare a catalog of over 200 beers for homebrewing. Very Nice.

    I can't believe I did that....

I've doughed in without milling before...you'd think that realization would have happened as I was doing it and not half way through the mash lol.

    PicoBrew Zymatic

Then you drink the beer and make pee, which costs 2.5 gallons/flush. So say 20 glasses of finished beer/batch, which would make you pee like 10 times. So you likely waste more water drinking it than making it.

Does anyone else ignore their water?

Water Chemistry is literally the last of the beer making processes you should worry about. So many homebrewers freak out about water and the beer is bad because they haven't nailed down fermentation or sanitization. No doubt water can make a good beer great, but there are other things way more...

    The CAD thread

Change the autocad default shortcuts (edit aliases), they are intuitive but annoying in that you constantly have to move your hands around the keyboard. I like to keep my left hand as stationary as possible and keep my right hand on the mouse. If you are going for mechanical then I would...

FG of Dark Lord is 1.070!?!?!

Dark Lord is thought to be too sweet by some, but I would not have thought the FG is 1.070. If it does in fact finish that high then clearly there is no issue.

    Are Glass Bottles Going Bye-Bye?

This article doesn't provide much as far as actual numbers, but it is recent. http://www.forbes.com/sites/mergermarket/2015/11/02/before-ab-inbev-sabmiller-trouble-was-already-brewing-for-craft-beer/ I would assume/hope though, as you mentioned, there are other options and this may only...

    Are Glass Bottles Going Bye-Bye?

Not necessarily true that cans are cheaper. There are only like 2 companies in the US that produce aluminum cans for beer. To order printed aluminum cans you have to buy a LOT, like close to 100k, which is a problem for small breweries. Both due to the upfront cost and the space they take up...
