    Temperature Reading

Where does everyone take their temperature readings from when cooling to pitch? I've noticed with my thermometer I can easily find a 10-15 degree difference as I get to pitch temps. So I might get 65 if putting it all the way to the bottom of the kettle, but 80 if leaving it near the top...

    Yeast Bay Amalgamation

Just ordered this yeast and I've never done a beer with brett. Any recommendations on techniques? Ferment with something neutral first and finish with the brett? Just use the Brett? And if so should I make a starter? Also is there a recipe you'd recommend trying with it? Sent from my iPad...

Time after starter to brew day?

Planning to brew my first lager. Made an appropriately sized starter as per mr malty last week and crashed it in the fridge once done fermenting on Friday. Due to some life circumstances (car accident I'm fine but my back is really sore) I'd rather wait a few days until I'm feeling better to...

    Clear Bottles

I have a Cream of Three Crops ready to go, but I'm a few brown bottles short. I do, however, have about 12 clear bottles. Now I'm going to do it anyways, at most it will be about 6 bottles (probably less), but I was curious if anyone had any experience with this? I know clear bottles can...

Belgian Candy Sugar / Dry Hop

I'm brewing a gluten free beer with Belgian Candy Sugar. Reading on here I found that it can be better to add these after the rest of the recipe has fermented a bit, letting the yeast do the easy to ferment sugars after the hard sugars. Question is I also plan to dry hop this beer. Is it...

    When to remove hops?

Just did my first non-kit beer and I thought I had a process figured out by reading in here a bunch, but of course once it starts happening realized I still had questions. Some I figured out, but the one I haven't found an answer to is when do the hops come out? I understand the 60/15/5/0...
