    Yeast Washing Illustrated

Is anyone else having a problem with the mason jar lids rusting after just one use? I boiled mine with the lid on the pot, left the lid on the pot and let them cool over night on the stove. I washed the yeast and stored it in the fridge. I had 2 jars and lids left in the pot for about 24 more...

Should I wash this yeast again?

Yeah, I get that....but since it looks like there is a fair amount of trub settled at the bottom, should I wash this yeast again before storing it?

Should I wash this yeast again?

I washed yeast for the first time this morning. I stored it in the fridge all day and now I can see 2 distinct layers. Should I wash it again and maybe turn the four jars into 2 jars of yeast? Or do you think it is fine as is?

    Help! Is my starter ok?

My starter ended up just fine. I just panicked a little too quickly. I have always seen a krausen on my starters prior to yesterday, so it freaked me out when I came home to no krausen. I pitched my starter last night and my fermenter was bubbling away this morning.

    Help! Is my starter ok?

I was planning to brew an India Brown Ale this evening, so I made a 1.2L starter this morning before I went to work. I used Wyeast 1056. Unfortunately, I forgot to take the pack out of the fridge last night, so I smacked it this morning and added it to my starter before I could see if the pack...

    Yeast Washing Illustrated

I understand that we boil the water to sanitize as well as remove oxygen to assist in putting the yeast to sleep. However, when you add the cooled water to the carboy and swirl to re-suspend the yeast....doesn't that also aerate the wort/yeast?
