bachelor party near LA (need ideas)

So my friend is getting married in LA, California later this year. I have never been to LA or the surrounding areas and wanted to get some ideas for a bachelor party. I think Vegas is only 4 hours or so away and could be an idea, but he has mentioned that he might not want to do a Vegas...

over shot OG (pitch more yeast?)

I just brewed a pumpkin ale. My est OG was 1.057, but my actual reading is 1.069. I did not make a starter, because I didn't think I would overshoot the OG. I pitched the yeast and then used my paddle to aerate the wort. Should I add more yeast? Or just wait and see what happens...

keezer air leak, how to fix

Tonight I did the light test to see if I had any air leaks in my keezer. I did this because I was noticing a good bit of water collecting on the walls. What I found is the front right corner of the keezers top seal has light showing through. I built a double hinge keezer and the top seal is...

    faucet coupling nut

I just ordered some stainless steel shanks and they all came with the textured faucet coupling nut. I have seen pictures online that show some coupling nuts that are smooth and was wondering what the difference was. Is one stainless and the other plated?

My Nu Cool Fermentation chamber! (nucool)

I have been waiting for one of these to pop up on craigslist and it finally happened. It's the 2.8 CF Haier nucool small fridge. I got it home last night, plugged it in and set it to the highest setting to see what would happen. I put a thermometer inside a glass of water to see what temps...

    Very low final gravity

I just brewed a pale ale using normal malts and the American ale yeast. After 6 days in the primary the final gravity is at 1.006 with the original gravity was read at 1.066. Why so low? I was expecting a final gravity around 1.016. The pale ale now is around 7.8% ABV with a strong alcohol...

    Wheat Ale Yeast experiment

I recently conducted an experiment making a Wheat ale. I used 50% wheat and 50% base malt. I mashed, boiled and cooled in the same equipment and then split into two different fermentation vessels. Bucket one contained 2.5 gallons of the beer as did bucket two, both in my kitchen during the...

    Fermentation temps for summer brews

The summers here are around the 90-100F range which makes fermenting beer tough as my temps in the apartment are around 77F. I was wondering if I can get around this by lowering my pitching temps. Say I have a yeast strain that likes to eat within a range of 65-72F, but I can't get my...
