    Burned Beer

If you have the means to keep it, by all means keep it. You will never know how it would have turned out if you toss it now... if you keep it, the flavors may mellow with time and you'll have an interesting brew. If it still tastes burnt in a few weeks, then toss it. At least you will know it...

    Man some episode 103: Beer

I am still new to brewing and have a limited knowledge on beer... But it seems, in the video, the bartender is saying color distinguishes ales vs lagers. Which isn't the case. However, they are doing a wonderful thing, this may help the men watching this show to venture out and try to drink beer...

Etching inside of aluminum brew pot

Notching the spoon isn't a bad idea. But I will probably mark the pot because if I need to use a different pot the markings will be different. I will probably use a nail to scratch the surface, re oxidize, and the use. Thanks for the help!

Etching inside of aluminum brew pot

So I have an aluminum turkey frier that was given to me, it is probably 7-8 gallons. I know aluminum has to have its oxide layer to be usable, and I'm not asking about whether I should use it or not. My question is, can I etch (with a dremel grinder) gallon and half gallon marks in the pot...

    Crashing Yeast Starters

You got me at boggling. I can't comment on the yeast starter but, You cold crash before bottling to get a clearer beer. There will still be yeast in suspension, so you can bottle condition.

So I took the plunge and bought some gear - did I miss anything?

More bottles! 24 won't cut it for a 5gallon batch. At least another case. I've gotten 52 bottles out of one before. The autosiphon is a good one. A bottling wand is a good investment also.

    Enough carbonation?

I came home from school today and wanted a beer, I quickly realized that I had none cold. I decided to quick chill a bottle with ice and salt. It works well, except for one aspect. Too much head (which I will never complain about ever :D) lol temporary image hosting This is a yuengling...

    Why is brewing addictive?

Thats a question you have to answer yourself. Sounds like you do it for the pleasure of drinking your own brew. I do it because I enjoy doing things myself. And the satisfaction of brewing beer that people can enjoy makes me feel like somewhat of a bad a$$. But to each their own.

how will this turn out? pilsner brew kit

very true, its easier when they are fresh to clean them. on a side note, personally if I didn't have 5 bucks to spend on spring water, I would wait on brewing. I know its hard but the first step is Accepting you have a problem :cross:

    Not carbonating?

    Transfer to primary method

I will use a bag and not worry about the rest. Thanks again! Next time should be a bit faster

    Transfer to primary method

I wasn't for sure if the hops staying in the fermemter would create a more hoppy beer. But I will use a bag for my hops. And will just pour straight in.

    Transfer to primary method

looks like I will just place my hops, grain, etc is a bag just to keep them out completely. Sounds the easiest. Thanks guys!

    Transfer to primary method

I just got my 4th batch of beer into primary. Even though this is my 4th, I have changed a little of my process each time. It was my second time using a funnel with a strainer in it for transfering from brew pot to primary. First time I had no problems, but this time the screen kept getting...
