    Peach pie "shine" (not real stuff) bubbling like soda?

    Could be infected, or yeast from the peach skin. If you were storing yeast in the mason jar prior to adding your peach cobbler residual yeast could have survived. I would throw them all in the fridge and drink them soon, and practice better sanitation in the future. IMO, probably safe to drink...

    Bottling's a pain but....

    I hate bottling by myself, but with the help it's not bad at all. Great excuse to bring some friends over, get the job done in an hour drink some beer or good wine and everyone goes home with a couple bottles.

    1 Bottle Bomb, Fizzy Beer. Saveable?

    I've never heard a standard bottle be able to take 6 volumes, let alone 9. Pretty sure standard bottles at the most can take 3.5. I just bottled my Brett beer in champagne bottles because those can hold 6 volumes. Not sure of anything that can hold 9.

    Toasting crushed grains

    I've done it. Didn't burn for me, with ample stirring. I wouldn't expect to get any sugars from it. In my experience though, i really can't say i noticed any beneficial flavors

    Lagering al fresco.

    Gonna follow this thread, as i have no ability to lager but have a pilsner planned this December. I live in San Francisco so we get about 3 days where at night it dips below freezing. If it got to 20 degrees like in Durham, wouldn't the Carboy run a risk of freezing?
